The YesMon CCM112 is a very compact bi-amplified, self-powered
multi-angle wedge/utility monitor that can also be mounted on
a pole stand to be used as an extremely size-conscious main
speaker or DJ monitor. In a word, it’s versatile.
The CCM112 features a 12” woofer with a 2.5” voice coil and
a 1” exit compression driver. The high-frequency horn is
concentric within the woofer, making it a true point-source cabinet.
The woofer’s power handling is 250W RMS and 500W program.
Amplification is provided by a 700W, 2-channel Powersoft
module with integrated DSP.
Any speaker that has the tweeter horizontally or vertically offset
from the mid-frequency driver produces very different response
as one moves through its coverage area from the tweeter side
to the woofer side. This is due to the different distances the sound
has to travel to reach the ears. Thanks to the co-axial construction
of the CCM112 driver, the path length difference between lows and
highs is the same in any direction, allowing extremely consistent
off-axis response regardless of which direction you move away from
directly on center.
Because the CCM112 is a point-source loudspeaker, the sound
heard to the left, right, above and below the speaker is very
similar. For the audience, this means better quality sound across
the entire listening area. For the performer this means less peaky
response and fewer problems with feedback relative to where
the microphone is moved. The main benefit of this is that the
monitor can have a smoother, more intelligible response on stage.
This generally allows greater gain before feedback, the benefits
of which are that the monitor can be heard more clearly
and/or that the monitor can be played more loudly with less chance
of feedback problems.
The CCM112 is extremely compact because the extra area that the
tweeter would ordinarily take up on the front of the loudspeaker
is eliminated. Instead the tweeter exits through the middle of the
woofer, making it possible to make the cabinet barely bigger than
a 12” woofer yet still incorporate a compression driver and horn,
a 700W amplifier and an integrated digital signal processor.
The processor provides crossover functions as well as a full
complement of protections, limiters and equalizers that ensure
consistent, accurate and reliable operation. Even though the
CCM112 is very small and very lightweight, there is nothing small
or lightweight about its performance. This little box will amaze you
with what it can do for output and with how well it does it.
The CCM112 has 3 angles in which it can be placed. One is for use
as a floor monitor for a standing performer. The second is for use
as a floor monitor for a seated performer. The third is a shallower
angle that’s useful if the CCM112 is to be used as a drum monitor
on top of a drum sub or if you just want to put it on a table and use
it as a DJ monitor. Finally it has a flat placement side so it can be
used as a straight-ahead front fill. On that same surface it includes
a pole socket mount so it can be mounted to a tripod speaker stand
or on a pole above a socket-equipped subwoofer for use as a main
PA speaker.
