13. Check for tangles or kinks in the cord. If the
cord does become tangled during use, turn unit
off and straighten cord before operating.

OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance is intended for household use.
Use on Alternating Current (120V AC 60Hz)
only. This appliance has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). As a safety
feature, this plug will fit in the outlet only one
way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat
this safety feature.
Your new Conair Haircut Kit has everything you
need to achieve professional haircuts at home,
and comes with a trimmer attachment for facial
trimming and detailing. Its powerful high torque
motor clipper, with stainless steel blades for
long-lasting cutting precision, features a new
5-position adjustamatic taper control. Whatever
hair length you set the lever for, the clipper will
automatically cut all hair in that section at the
desired length. Also included are 9 attachment
combs for different hair lengths (including left
and right ear taper combs), barber scissors, a
barber comb with straight teeth, styling comb
with angled teeth, a full-length barber cape,
a case for easy storage, and 4 styling clips to
assist you in cutting longer hair styles. It also
comes with lubricating oil, a cleaning brush
and a blade guard for easy maintenance and
protection of the clipper blades.
THE CONAIR GUIDE
TO CUTTING HAIR AT HOME
Before you start:
1. Inspect your clipper. Make sure it’s free of hair
and dirt, properly oiled, and running smoothly.
2. Place cape around the neck of the person
getting a haircut.
3. Seat the person so that his or her head is at
your eye level. This gives you greater visibility
and control.
4. First, comb hair until it’s tangle-free. Then
hold clipper in a comfortable grip. Now you’re
ready to cut.
MEDIUM TO LONG CUT
To begin with, cut only a small amount
of hair until you become used to the length
each attachment leaves the hair. Try the lon-
gest attachment comb and put the taper con-
trol in the highest setting. If you want a shorter
cut, you can then use shorter combs.
• Short attachment comb (number 1) cuts
hair to 1/8".
• Medium-Short attachment comb (number 2)
cuts hair to 1/4".
• Medium-Long attachment comb
(number 3) cuts hair to 3/8".
• Long attachment comb (number 4) cuts
hair to 1/2".
• Long attachment comb (number 5) cuts
hair to 5/8".
• Long attachment comb (number 6) cuts
hair to 3/4".
• Long attachment comb (number 7) cuts
hair to 7/8".
• Left ear attachment comb lightly tapers
over left ear.
• Right ear attachment comb lightly tapers
over right ear. These combs make this part
of the haircut easier.
Attach combs by hold-
ing them teeth up, then
snapping them onto the
bottom of the clipper
blade.
To remove comb attach-
ments, place index finger
and thumb as illustrated;
then pull out and up.
NOTE:
Never push or shove the clipper
through the hair to make it move more
quickly. Professional experience shows that
the clipper works most efficiently when it
cuts through the hair at its own speed.
To begin cutting hair:
1. The hair should be combed
in its natural direction.
2. Using the largest attach-
ment comb, trim sides from
the bottom upward. Hold clip-
per lightly against the hair
with teeth of the attachment
comb pointing up ward, yet flat against the head.
Gradually lift the clip per upward and outward
through the hair, trimming just a little at a time.
Repeat around sides and
back of head.
If you want hair to be even
shorter:
A) Apply more pressure to
the head with the attach-
ment comb that is in place.
This takes a little practice,
of course.
OR
B) Just switch to a shorter
attachment comb.
Remember, it’s better to
leave too much hair than
too little. For longer hair on
top, use the barber comb
and lift hair on the top of the
head, cutting over the comb,
or hold the hair between
the fingers and cut to desired length. Always
working from the front to the back of the head,
gradually cut the hair shorter by reducing the
space between the comb or fingers and the
head. Comb often to check for uneven strands,
and to get rid of trimmed hair.
OUTLINING
Outlining requires no attachments. Comb hair
into the desired style. Position the clipper
between the sideburns and the ear (see
below), making sure the corner edge of the
blade is against the hairline. With the outline
of the hair as your guide, slowly move the clip-
per over, around and behind the ears. For the
back of the neck and the sideburns, hold the
clipper upside down (see above) and, holding
it against the skin at the length desired, move
the clipper downward.
STOP. COMB. CHECK.
For best results, do as the professionals do:
comb hair often, and check clipping results as
you comb. This way you avoid uneven sides,
bangs, neckline, etc.
SHORTCUTS TO PERFECT
FLAT TOPS, CREW CUTS, ETC.
Always cut from the back
of the neck to the crown,
using the longest comb set-
ting. Hold the comb attach-
ment flat against the head
and slowly move the clipper
up through the hair. Use the same technique
for the sides, cutting from the bottom to the
upper side of the head.
For the front to the crown, cut the hair against
the direction in which it grows, then even it up
with the sides.
For a flat top, use the flat
comb, not the attachment
comb. Just cut hair on top
of the head over flat comb
(see above).
To taper hair down to the
neckline, use attachment comb #1. Comb hair
and check for uneven spots. Outline sideburns
and neck areas (see “Outlining”).

CARE OF YOUR CLIPPERS
DETACHABLE BLADE SET
Your clipper is equipped with 2 detachable
blades for routine maintenance, cleaning
and replacement. The larger blade is a stan-
dard hair clipper blade. The smaller blade is
a detailing blade that can also be used for
detailing necklines, side burns, goatees and
short beard styles.
To remove the blade: the
front of the clipper should
be facing you, push up
under the blade with your
thumb and the blade will
pop-out. (See Fig 1)
To replace the blade: Make
sure the taper control is
set to the longest position
and with the back of the
clipper facing you, insert
the bottom side (with
screws) of the blade into
the clipper and push down until it snaps into
place. (See Fig 2)

MAINTENANCE OF THE BLADE
Any other servicing should be performed by an
authorized service representative or that the
appliance has no user serviceable parts. The
product is for household use. Do not pull, twist,
or wrap line cord around appliance.
SPECIAL OIL
Always apply oil to the blades before, during
or after use. This will ensure maximum cutting
performance. Hold clipper away from your
body in a downward position and apply oil on
the front and sides of the cutter blade. Wipe
excess oil off with a soft, dry cloth.
To maintain the blades of your Conair
clipper,
oil them after every three or four haircuts.
Gently place a few drops of oil on the teeth of
the blades, using the special Conair
oil included
with your set. Turn the clipper on for a minute,
then turn off. This light, natural oil was for-
mulated specifically for the Conair high speed
clipper. Be cause it is the right oil to use, it will
not slow down the blades. Never use any other
product. There is no substitute for Conair oil.
TO OPERATE DETAILING BLADE
1. Make sure unit is “off”. Remove clipper
blade by simply placing your thumb in front
of the blade and pushing back until the blade
detaches. Use cleaning brush to remove any
loose hair before attaching the trimmer blade.
Attach blade from the back, (lining it up with
the small tab) and then push forward until the
blade snaps into place. Be sure that the taper
control is set to the lowest setting (switch
will be away from the blade) before replacing
the blade. To begin detailing, push the taper
control switch to its highest setting.
2. To clean the clipper, turn unit to “OFF” posi-
tion. Using your thumb, press upwards against
the blade. This will make it easy to clean. Brush
or blow hair clippings from the cutter blade.
3. Again, snap in the blade set until you hear a
click. Be sure that the taper control is set to the
lowest setting (switch will be away from the
blade) before replacing the blade. This detailing
blade works well on sideburns & necks as well
as goatees and short beard styles and mus-
taches. For thick, full beards we recommend
using the clipper blade.
TAKING CARE OF YOUR CLIPPER
OILING THE BLADES
About once a month you should oil the blades
with the oil provided in your kit. It is best to do
this over a piece of newspaper. Turn the clipper
on and hold it so that the blades are pointed
downward. Spread one drop of oil across the
blades, then turn the clipper off and wipe away
the excess oil with a soft cloth.
Be careful not to use too much oil and don’t oil
your clipper more than necessary, as this could
damage the motor. (Never attempt to oil the
motor bearing, as it is permanently lubricated.)
Keep oil away from children.
BLADE CARE
This clipper has a detachable blade that
makes cleaning easy. Just push up on the top
of the blade and it will pop off easily. Remove
any loose hair with the cleaning brush pro-
vided and then place blade back in position. To
secure properly, line up the base of the blade
with the lower back of the clipper. Push down
into place until you hear a snap to know it’s
locked in place.
Because the blades are precision-made for a
very special use, they should always be han-
dled with care. Each time you finish using the
clipper, take the cleaning brush provided and
brush away any loose hair that has collected in
the blades. Then store the clipper in its case to
protect the blades until the next use.
Be especially careful when changing or adjust-
ing blades.
To promote the long life of the appliance,
use your detailing blade only for the purpose
intended by the manufacturer – to trim your
necklines and sideburns.

MANTENIMIENTO
DE

Cualquier otro servicio debe ser realizado por

No jale, retuerza
ni enrolle el cable alrededor del apara
to.
ACEITE ESPECIAL
Lubrique las
cuchillas antes,
durante
y después
del uso. Esto asegurará un rendimiento óptimo.
Sostenga el apara
to boca abajo, lejos de su
cuerpo, y a
plique aceite sobre los dientes y en
el costado
de las
cuchillas. Limpie
el exceso
de aceite con un paño suave seco.
Para mantener las cuchillas de su cortadora
en condición óptima, lubríquelas cada tres o
cuatro cortes de cabello.
Ponga unas cuantas
gotas del aceite
lubricante provisto
en los
dientes de las cuchillas. Encienda el a
parato
durante un minuto, y luego a
páguelo.
El aceite
lubricante provisto
ha sido
específicamente
diseñado para las cortadoras de alta velocidad

MANTENIMIENTO DE LAS CUCHILLAS
LUBRICACIÓN
Lubrique las
cuchillas a
proximadamente una
vez al mes, usando el aceite provisto.
Para no
ensuciar, ha
ga esto encima de un periódico.
Sostenga el apara
to al revés y enciéndelo.
Coloque una gota de aceite sobre
las cuchillas,
apa
gue el apara
to y limpie el exceso de aceite
con un paño suave.
No use demasiado aceite y no lubrique el
apara
to más de lo necesario. Esto podría dañar
el motor. T
ampoco no intente lubricar las piezas
del motor, las cuales son lubricadas de por
vida. Mantenga el aceite fuera del alcance de
los niños.
LIMPIEZA DE LAS CUCHILLAS
Este apara
to está equipado con cuchillas
extraíbles para facilitar la limpieza. Simplemente
presione la parte superior de la cuchilla y ésta
se desprenderá
fácilmente del
cabezal. Limpie
la cuchilla con el cepillo de limpieza provisto
y vuelva a instalarla. Alinee la parte inferior de
la cuchilla con la parte posterior del cabezal.

lic y quede firme en
su lugar.
Las cuchillas
de su
apara
to fueron
diseñadas
con precisión para un uso específico, y deben
recibir un
cuidado muy
especial. Limpie
las
cuchillas después de cada uso con el cepillo de
limpieza provisto. Guarde el a
parato en la caja de
almacenaje.
Tenga cuidado cuando sea necesario cambiar o
ajustar las cuchillas.
Para seguir disfrutando de su a
parato durante
mucho tiempo, utilice la cuchilla de acabado
únicamente con el propósito para el cual fue dis-
eñado: recortar el pelo en la nuca y las pa
tillas.
