IP30NI Compliance Insert
Important Operating Instructions
The Model IP30 Non-Incendive (NI) RFID reader has been qualified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc., to the requirements of the
USA and Canada for use in Class I, Division 2-Groups A,B,C,D; Class II, Division 2-Groups F and G; Class III, Division 2, and non-
hazardous locations only. The IP30NI has a T4 temperature code.
The IP30NI must only be used with Intermec’s Model CK61NI or CN3NI.
The users of this product are cautioned to use accessories and peripherals approved by Intermec Technologies Corporation. The
use of accessories other than those recommended, or changes to this product that are not approved by Intermec Technologies
Corporation, may void the compliance of this product and may result in the loss of the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
The following additional warnings and cautions must be observed for the safety of the operator and others in potentially
hazardous locations:
•
The IP30NI must only be used when the ambient temperature is between 0
°C and +50°C (32°F and +122°F).
•
The IP30NI may only be connected to either the CK61NI or the CN3NI. These connections must be made prior to entering a
potentially hazardous location.
•
The battery pack must not be removed or installed while in a potentially hazardous location.
•
Battery pack charging must only take place in locations known to be non-hazardous.
•
Any connector cover removed while in ordinary locations must be reinstalled prior to entering a Class II or III potentially
hazardous location.

FCC Digital Emissions Compliance
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC
Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This
equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not
occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be
determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the
following measures:
•
Reorient or relocate the radio or television receiving antenna.
•
Increase the separation between the computer equipment and receiver.
•
Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the radio or television receiver is connected.
•
Consult the dealer or an experienced radio television technician for help.
Canadian Digital Apparatus Compliance
This Class B digital apparatus meets all requirements of the Canadian Interference-Causing Equipment Regulations.

Reader
When installing and using the Intermec IP30 RFID Reader, a 23 cm (9 in.) (or greater distance per MPE calculation) passing
distance must be maintained from any body part of the user or nearby persons and the IP30 antenna. The antenna must not be
touched during transmitter operation.
Caution: This marking indicates that the user should read all included documentation before use.
Warning: Explosion Hazard - Substitution of components may impair suitability for Division 2, Class I, II, and
III locations.
Warning: Explosion Hazard - Batteries must be changed or charged in an area known to be non-hazardous. Use
ONLY Intermec battery pack Model AB19.
