Section 3: Operating Instructions
9/6/17
RC2512 Series 2 S/N 945551+ Rotary Cutters 330-725M
7.
Start tractor and carefully raise and lower implement
to ensure tractor drawbar, tires, and other equipment
on the tractor do not contact cutter or power take-off
driveline. See also
8.
Raise center deck fully up.
9.
Without lowering the cutter, shut tractor down
properly without lowering implement. Refer to
10. Place sturdy support blocks or jack stands under the
four center deck corners.
11. Start tractor and lower center deck down onto the
supports.
12. Shut tractor down properly before dismounting.
13. With cutter resting on solid supports, power take-off
disengaged, and blade rotation completely stopped:
•
Check for and remove foreign objects wrapped
around blade spindles.
•
Check for nicked, bent, broken, and worn cutting
blades. Replace or sharpen blades as required.
Refer to
14. Inspect hydraulic hoses for wear, damage and
hydraulic leaks. See
“Avoid High Pressure Fluids
Hazard”
on page 3. Replace damaged and worn
hoses with genuine Land Pride parts.
15. Make repairs to cutter and tractor before continuing
with
Blade Operation Inspection
!
WARNING
To prevent serious injury or death:
•
Tractor power take-off shaft shield, driveline shields, andÂ
gearbox shaft shields must be installed and in good workingÂ
condition to avoid injury or death from drivelineÂ
entanglement and projectiles flying off of the driveline.
â¢
Always disengage power take-off, place tractor in park orÂ
set park brake, shut tractor engine off, remove switch key,Â
and wait for all moving parts to stop before dismountingÂ
â¢
Some tractors are equipped with multi power take-offÂ
speeds. Be certain your tractorâs power take-off is set at theÂ
implementâs rated power take-off speed or equipmentÂ
breakage may result. RC Series are rated for 540 rpm andÂ
RCM Series are rated for 1000 rpm.
1.
Be sure to completeÂ
âTractor & Cutter InspectionâÂ
on this page before continuing with step 2 below.Â
IMPORTANT:Â
Stop power take-off immediately ifÂ
vibration continues after a few revolutions duringÂ
start-up and anytime vibration occurs thereafter.
IMPORTANT:Â
starting on page 25 before operating the cutter.
2.
Make sure cutter blades are not locked against eachÂ
other. SeeÂ
3.
Remove support blocks or jack stands and setÂ
transport locks for field operations. SeeÂ
4.
Lower cutter decks down until blades are about 2" offÂ
the ground.Â
5.
Start tractor and set throttle speed just above idle.Â
Use tractorâs power take-off soft start option ifÂ
available. Slowly engage power take-off to get bladesÂ
rotating. (Also seeÂ
 instructions onÂ
6.
Initial start-up vibration is normal and should stopÂ
after a few revolutions. Stop power take-off rotationÂ
immediately if vibration continues.
7.
Once cutter is running smoothly, increase throttle toÂ
full power take-off speed. If cutter vibratesÂ
excessively for 3 seconds at full speed, immediatelyÂ
disengage power take-off, shut tractor down properly,Â
and remove switch key.
8.
Block center deck up before working under cutter.
9.
Check blades for a locked-up situation. UnlockÂ
blades if locked-up.
10. Check for other probable causes such as broken orÂ
bent blades, loose blades, loose gearbox mountingÂ
bolts, and bent driveline.Â
11. Taking proper precautions, make necessary repairs,Â
and adjustments.
12. Repeat steps 1 to 11 above to make certain vibrationÂ
problems are fixed before putting cutter back intoÂ
service.Â
Transport Locks
Cutter wings will need to be raised and locked beforeÂ
transporting on a roadway, through narrow openings, andÂ
when servicing underside of deck.
1.
Disengage tractor power take-off and wait for cutterÂ
blades to come to a complete stop before raisingÂ
wings.
2.
Raise cutter wings fully up with hydraulics.
3.
Shut tractor down properly before dismounting. ReferÂ
toÂ
âTractor Shutdown ProcedureâÂ
IMPORTANT:Â
Always disengage tractorâs powerÂ
take-off & wait for blades to come to a complete stopÂ
before raising cutter wings to transport position.Â
Wing drivelines, wing gearboxes, and splitterÂ
gearbox can be damaged if driveline is turning.
NOTE:Â Â
The deck lift cylinder and wing foldingÂ
cylinders are controlled with one hydraulic controlÂ
lever at the tractor. Be certain that the hydraulicÂ
hose is attached to the tractor and hydraulic hosesÂ
are full of oil before proceeding.
