Music Server Quick Start Guide
1 Installing, Connecting and Switching On
• Install your music server on an equipment stand or rack intended for the purpose. Ensure
that the fan aperture is not obstructed. Install batteries in the remote control handset.
• Identify the
Network
,
Display
,
Audio Output 1
and
Mains Input
sockets.
• Using a standard RJ45 ethernet cable connect the
Network
socket to a network router with
a known working internet connection.
• A wired, rather than wireless, network connection is preferable for the most consistent
and secure music server operation. “Ethernet over mains” network hardware provides a
convenient network solution and may be used with the proviso that, for the best system
sound quality, it is disconnected at all access points during periods of critical listening.
• Music servers are configured when originally shipped not to require any specific (TCP/IP)
network setup but to connect to a network automatically. However, if your music server has
been previously used, its network configuration may have been altered, leaving it unable to
connect automatically. Refer to the music server Reference Manual or contact your retailer
or installer if this appears to be the case.
• Connect a VGA, s-video or composite display to the appropriate
Display
socket.
• Connect the
Audio Output 1
audio sockets - DIN or Phono - to an audio system. If using the
DIN connection option in a system that includes an existing earthed source component,
switch the rear panel
Signal Ground
to
Floating
. Otherwise the
Signal Ground
switch should
be set to
Chassis.
• Connect the
Mains Input
using the supplied mains cable.
• Ensure that the network, display and peripheral audio equipment is connected, switched
on and working. Switch on the music server using the rear panel
Power Switch
.
• After a delay of up to a minute, during which the
standby
button will flash, the user
interface
Home
menu will appear on the connected display.
