VI. Trouble Shooting.
A. Trouble-shooting poor water flow or little or no heat
1. Check to make sure that the boiler is full of water. Simply open the water supply
valve until water flows out of the overflow tube.
2. Make sure you have a good fire!
3. Check that:
a. The pump runs when the thermostat is raised.
b. Your inside furnace fan comes on at the same time.
c. Air is blowing out of the wall or floor vents.
4. Check that the water is hot by touching the pex pipe coming from the water pump at
the boiler and the pex pipe going to heat exchanger at your furnace.
5. Check that the combustion air blower comes on when the water temperature drops
in the boiler. If it does not come on, you should test the blower by:
a.
Turn the power off.
b. Disconnect the two wires at the aqua-stat (thermostat) and connect them
together.
c. Turn the power on.
d. If the blower does not run, the aqua-stat has failed and needs to be replaced.
The aqua-stat is a standard hot water heater aqua-stat (thermostats)
available for about $8-10 at any good hardware, plumbing or home building-
supply store.
e. Turn the power off.
f. Install the new aqua-stat and reconnect the two wires.

b. Second, check that motor shaft and propeller are free.
i. Shut the power off.
ii. Remove the plastic screw cap on the end of the pump.
iii. Use a flashlight to inspect that the motor shaft and try to turn it with a
small flat blade screw driver. The shaft should be free and turn easily.
iv. The pump is probably ok if the shaft turns easily.
c. If the motor shaft can not be turned, you should remove the pump by
unbolting it from the flanges and checking that some physical object
(small
rock, screw/bolt/nut/nail, piece of calcium deposit, etc)
may be blocking the propeller.
d. If you find nothing, and still can not turn the motor shaft, you will need to
replace the water pump a
