This set employs an optical laser beam system in the CD mechanism desig ned
with b uilt-in safeguards. Do not attem pt to disass emble. Expo sure to this
invisible las er light beam may be har mful to the human eye. This is a Class -1
laser produ ct. Use of controls, adjustments or procedures other tha n thos e
specified herein may result in hazard ous laser lig ht bea m exposure. This
compact disc player should not be adjusted or re paired by anyone except
qualified service p ersonnel. The lase r mechanism in th e set corresponds to the
stylus (needle) of a record player. Although this product uses a lase r pick-up
lens, it is completely safe when operated accordi ng to directions.

Handling precaut ions
Hold the disc by the edges so the su rface will no t be so iled with fing erprin ts. Fin gerpri nts,
dirt and sc ratche s can c ause skippi ng and distortion.

Th is refe rs to a high-density optical disc on wh ich high-qua lity pictures and so und have be en
ob tained by means of digita l signals. Incorporation a new v ideo compre ssion techno logy
(M PEG II) and high-d ensity record ing te ch-nol ogy, D VD en ables aestheticall
pleasing
ful l-motion vide o to be recorded o ver long peri ods of time (for instance, a who le mov ie can
be recorded). DVD ha s a structure consisting o f two 0.6 mm thin discs w hich a re adhered
to each other. Since t he thinner th e disc, the hi gher the den sity at which the in formation ca n
be recorded, a DVD disc ha s a greater capacity than a sing le 1.2 mm thi ck disc. Sinc e the
tw o thin discs are adhered t o each other, there is the potential to achiev e double-sid ed pla y
so metim e in the futur e for e ven longer duration play.
Th is contains recordi ngs of pictures and sound whose qual ity is o n a pa r with that of video
tape. Thi s play er also supports Video CD s with playb ack control (version 2.0).
Th ese contain record ings o f music which are c ompressed, allowing a si gnificantly larger
am ount o f mus ic to be store d on a CD.
Recorde d onto some DVD discs a re scenes which have bee n sim ultane ously shot from
a numbe r of different angles (the same s cene is shot from t he front, from the left side , from
the right side, etc.). With su ch discs, the ANGLE butt on can be us ed to view th e scene from
dif ferent angles .
Th is is the appearance of the dialo gue a t the b ottom of the screen which are p rerecorded o n
so me DVD discs.
Th ese nu mbers are recorded on D VD discs. W hen a disc contains two o r more movies, the se
mo vies are numbered as title 1, tit le 2, e tc.
Th ese nu mbers are recorded on D VD discs. A title is sub- d ivided into m any sections, each
of which is numbered , and specific parts of vid eo pre sentat ions can be search ed qui ckly
us ing these numbers.
Th is indicates the pla y time which has elapsed from the sta rt of a disc or a title . It can be
us ed to find a s pecific scene quickly.(It may not work with s ome d iscs.)
Th is is recorde d on a Video CD (ve rsion 2.0). The scenes o r information to be viewed
(or listen ed to) can be selected interactively w ith the TV monitor by looking at the me nu
sh own on the T V mon itor.
Th ese nu mbers are a ssigned to the tracks which are re- corded o n Vide o CDs and C Ds. They
en able s pecific tracks to be located quic kly.
