PS Audio XStream Instruction Manual - Xstream Speaker Cable
xStream Speaker cable
Congratulations on your purchase of the world’s
most advanced speaker cable.
The PS Audio xStream Speaker cable will provide
an audible enhancement to any type of musical
system.
Some qualities characteristic of the xStream
Speaker cables are:
• Massive OFC (oxygen free copper) conductors
• Multistrand/multigauge design
• Soldered connections
* Interchangeable, gold plated banana and spade
end connectors
• Available in Prelude, Plus, Statement and State-
ment Bi-Wire configurations
Connections
The xStream Speaker cable includes both spade
lugs and banana plugs for connecting to standard
binding posts. The connectors are threaded and
can be removed simply by unscrewing them.
Note: the banana plugs must be gripped by the
base of the plug as the tip spins freely.
While the cables ship with the banana plugs con-
nected, the spade lug connectors tend to provide a
tighter, more secure connection and may provide a
sonic advantage due to their greater contact area.
The Bi-Wire cable provides isolated paths for
the high frequency and low frequency compo-
nents of the signal. It can provide a superior
transmission by optimizing the type of cable
each of the frequencies travel along.
The xStream speaker cables are not direc-
tional. They can be connected in either direc-
tion with no effect on the sonic performance.
The xStream Bi-Wire cable is only capable of
being connected in one direction due to the
different number of conductors on each end.
Setup Guide
The xStream speaker cables are stiff and heavy.
Position them as best you can before attaching
the banana or spade connectors to amplifier and
speakers.
Pre-bending the cables before installation can help
them fit in tricky locations. Ensure that pre-bending
is done before the cables are connected to either
the amplifier or speakers.
Ensure that the amplifier and the speaker (if ap-
plicable) is powered off before making or changing
any speaker connections. Connect the cable to the
speaker end first, to avoid the possibility of shorting
out the amplifier.
Due to the weight of the cables it may be necessary
to support them. Use the included Velcro straps to
provide strain relief if necessary
Always connect the positive (+) terminal on the am-
plifier to the positive (+) terminal on the speaker.
Always connect the negative (-) terminal on the am-
plifier to the negative (-) terminal on the speaker.
Bi-Wire setup
The Bi-Wire cable has two wires on the input (am-
plifier side), and four wires on the output (speaker
side). The output wiring is as follows:
Blue = High -
White = High +
Black = Low -
Red = Low +
