QUORUM INTERNATIONAL The Angel Installation Instructions - 8. Troubleshooting
8. TROUBLESHOOTING
6. COMPLETING
THE
INSTALLATION
SECURING THE MOTOR CABLE
1.
(Fig. 10) Attach the loop of the
motor cable to the ceiling mounting plate
with the screw and washer set provided.
Adjust the motor cable coming out of the
top of the fan motor assembly. It should
have some tension, but not so much that
the hanging structure becomes slack.
(Fig. 11) When the desired length is
achieved, tighten the screw on the side of
the conical cable holder with the allen
wrench provided to hold the cable in
place.
2.
Make sure the wiring is safely inside
the outlet box as instructed in Step 4 -
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.
3.
Install the canopy by removing the
four screws pre-installed on the rim of the
mounting plate. Align the holes/slots in
the canopy with the holes in the mount-
ing plate. Attach the four screws and
tighten to secure. Make sure the canopy
is not quite touching the ceiling. Tighten
screws.
FAN WILL NOT START
1. Check that the electricity has been
turned on at the circuit breaker which
had probably been turned off during
installation.
2. Turn off the electricity. Check all
connections in the wiring of the fan at the
ceiling and make sure it follows the wiring
instructions outlined in this manual.
NOISE
Note: Always allow a day or two “run-in”
time for any new fan at medium or high
speed. When attempting to diagnose
noise, listen carefully from several sides
to try and isolate the location of the noise
(blades, upper end, motor, light kit, etc.).
1. Turn off the power. Loosen the
canopy and check that the wiring and/or
wire nut connectors are not resting against
the canopy, possibly vibrating while the
fan is on.
2.
Use of a standard light rheostat or an
unapproved fan wall control to control the
fan speed will always cause an annoying
“hum”. Many fan motors do not work
quietly with solid state variable speed
controls.
3. Check that the rubber gasket on the
mounting bracket has been installed if
called for in the installation instructions.
4. Check that the canopy is not touching
the ceiling.
5. Check that all screws are tight.
FAN TURNS, BUT DOES NOT
MOVE MUCH AIR
1. The fan may be running in reverse.
2.
The distance from the ceiling to the
blades may be too small. For downrod
fans, optimal placement would be 8-9 feet
from the floor.
3.
The room may contain items which
obstruct the air flow.
4.
The fan may be too small for the size
of the room.
EXCESSIVE WOBBLE
Note: A small amount of wobble is
considered acceptable and should not be
considered a defect.
1.
Make certain all blades are tightly
attached.

the transmitter to the remaining
BLACK wire from the wall (A/C
supply source).
• If your junction box has a ground
wire (green or bare copper), connect
the transmitter’s ground wire to it.
Otherwise, connect the transmitter
ground wire directly to one of the
screws from the outlet box.
• Now before mounting the wall trans-
mitter, be sure to check the code set-
tings on the side of it in the small
bank of switches numbered 1-4.
Remember these settings.
• Carefully tuck the connected wires
inside the junction box. Secure the
transmitter with the two screws pro-
vided. Attach the face plate over the
transmitter with the two screws pro-
vided.
4. This wall control and receiver unit
has 16 different code combinations. Slide
the small bank of code switches on the
canopy receiver so they match with the
switch settings on the wall transmitter.
Your fan will not operate if the switch
settings do not match. If you have
another remote operated fan in your
home, make sure its combination of
switch settings are different from those
of your new fan.
5.
Put the receiver unit inside the
canopy.

BLADE INSTALLATION
(Fig. 12) Align the blade teeth into the
corresponding holes in the motor assem-
bly. Snap down into place. DO NOT
bend the blades when installing the
blades.
6.
Turn on the fan and check the
4 speed positions - 3 speeds and off - on
the wall transmitter. Check the reverse
position which is also on the wall trans-
mitter.
7. FAN OPERATION AND CARE
Fig. 13
WINTER
Fig. 14
1.
A ceiling fan is an environmentally
smart choice to cool as well as help to
warm your home or office. Adjust the
HVAC thermostat during fan use to save
additional energy and money on your air
conditioning and heating utility bills.
You should see a reduction in both heat-
ing and cooling costs by regular use of
your fan.
Do not hesitate to use your fan dur-
ing summer and winter months. In sum-
mer, using the reverse button, adjust the
fan’s direction so cool air is blown down,
producing a cooling breeze. (Fig. 13) In
winter, reverse the fan so that an upward
airflow will push warm air off the ceiling
and circulate it downwards into the liv-
ing area (Fig. 14). In winter months, use
the fan at a lower speed than summer.
2.
Periodically check tightness of all
screws. A clicking or rattling noise is a
sure indication of loosening screws.
Since screws will invariably work loose
over time, at least once a year, tighten all
the screws.
3.
Clean the chrome on your fan peri-
odically using only a cloth dampened
with a mild detergent solution. (This will
remove any fingerprints or dust.) Never
use solvents. Then dry with a soft cloth.
Dust off the blades with a soft cloth as
the acrylic will scratch easily. Glass
cleaner may also be used to clean finger-
prints off the blades.
4.
You will never need to oil or lubri-
cate your fan. Its permanently sealed
bearings will provide trouble-free, silent
operation for many years.
5.
If repairs or servicing are ever
required, to avoid possible electric
shock, turn off the electricity at the
main fuse or circuit panel before you
begin.
6.
This model ceiling fan may also be
used with a hand-held remote control
(sold separately).
