Chapter 3 Configuration
HS-ETH/SW MP-2100/2104 Ver. 11
Configuration Parameters
3-7
Parameter Function
Values
Double Tagged – A tag is always added to all the
frames that egress the corresponding port.
Default: N/A for L3 Subnet Switching
Unmodified for other modes
WAN to LAN
VLAN Mode
Specifies the VLAN tagging policy for
frames ingressed through the
corresponding WAN port and forwarded
for egress through an external (LAN)
port (that is, frames sent by packet
processor to the Ethernet switch via the
port IN1).
This parameter is relevant only when
the Destination Interface is IN1 or
Switching Table; for other selections,
this field displays N/A and cannot be
changed
Unmodified – The packet processor transfers the
tags of the frames without change. Therefore,
untagged frames egress to the Ethernet switch as
untagged frames, and tagged frames egress as
tagged frames.
Untagged – the packet processor removes one tag
from the frames before egress. Therefore:
• Untagged frames egress the packet processor
unmodified.
• Tagged frames are converted to untagged
frames before egress to the Ethernet switch
(this is performed by removing their tag and
recalculating the frame CRC).
• Double tagged frames are converted to tagged
frames before egress to the Ethernet switch
(this is performed by removing the first tag and
recalculating the frame CRC).
Double Tagged – A tag is always added to all the
frames before egressing to the Ethernet switch.
Therefore, in this case the WAN Egress VLAN Mode
must be Untagged.
Default: N/A for IN2 to IN27.
Unmodified for other selections
L2 Protocol
Selects the encapsulation method for
Ethernet traffic
None The corresponding internal WAN port uses
HDLC encapsulation. This is the
recommended mode for compatibility with
Megaplex Ethernet modules offered by RAD
that use HDLC encapsulation, for example,
the various HS-ETH module versions.
This option is not available (N/A) in the L3
Subnet Switching mode.
PPP
The corresponding internal port uses PPP
encapsulation. This is a future option, not
for use in the current version.
Default: PPP for L3 Subnet Switching.
None for Bridge and Bridge+STP modes
Port Priority
Specifies the port priority, used by STP
to generate the port ID.
This parameter is relevant only when
the Mode is Bridge + STP; for other
selections, this field displays N/A and
cannot be changed
The allowed range is 0 to 255.
Default: 128 for Bridge + STP mode. N/A
for other modes
