Setting the Time/Date
Setting the Time/Date
The RoadHawk 720 camera embeds the time and date on to any video being recorded.
In order to set the time and date you need to put a file on to the SD card so the camera
can be set correctly.
You can do this by creating a file called “TIMESET.txt” and putting this text inside the file in
this format: 2012-09-27 13:50:00
For example: 2012-09-27 13:50:00 is the 27nd day of September 2012 at the time of
1pm 50 minutes and 00 seconds.
You can use NOTEPAD on Windows to make this file. Make sure to call the file
TIMESET.txt (in more recent versions of windows you should call the file TIMESET as
NOTEPAD adds the .txt extension automatically)
Once this file is on the SD card and you turn the camera on it will read the file and set the
internal clock. As soon as you have created this file and put it on the SD card make sure you
turn the camera on so it can read the file and set it’s internal clock with as little delay
as possible. Once the camera has read the TIMESET.txt file, it will be deleted automatically
by the camera.
It is possible to also set the time and date of the camera using the on-screen menu.
Please see page 15 for details on using the camera’s built-in menu system.
NOTE: The TIMESET.txt file should go on a BLANK SD card. Do not put the file in
any folders on the card.
