noteS
1.0 The current ratings of the fuses are less than the ampacity (maximum current
carrying capacity) of the cables based on NeC Table 310.17 for free air, ambient
temperature of 30°C / 86°f and temperature rating of conductor at 90°C / 194°f.
2.1 Voltage drop is calculated by multiplying the current flow in the cable by the
resistance of the cable. Distances 3 ft., 6ft. and 10 ft. are the running distances
between the battery and the inverter. The resistance of the cable is calculated for the
total length of the cable – from the Positive of the battery to the inverter and back
to the Negative of the battery. Thus, the total length of cable is taken as 2 times the
running distance between the battery and the inverter. for example, for running
distance of 3ft., the resistance will be calculated for 6 ft.
2.2 Percentage voltage drop is calculated with respect to 12V and for 12V system and
24V for 24V system.
2.3 resistance of the cable in ohms per ft. is based on ambient temperature of 25°C.
resistances of the 4 sizes of cables and the current considered for calculating voltage
drops are shown below:
