1. KNOW YOUR MACHINE
Read and understand the owner's manual and labels
affixed to the tool. Learn it's application and limitations as
well as the specific potential hazards peculiar to the tool.
2. MAINTAIN A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Do not use power tools in damp or wet locations, nor expose
them to rain. Keep work area well lit. Provide adequate
surrounding work space. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN.
Cluttered areas and benches invite accidents.
Floor must not be slippery due to oil or sawdust.
3. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY
Make workshop childproof with padlocks, master
switches or by removing starter keys. Visitors of all ages
should be kept a safe distance from work area.
4. AVOID
ELECTRICAL HAZARDS
Unit is equipped with a three-prong plug for your
protection against shocks. Use only 3-wire extension cords
which have 3-prong grounding type plugs. Never cut off
the round grounding prong! Use only in properly
grounded, 3-prong wall receptacles. Repair any worn or
damaged cords immediately.
5. WEAR PROPER CLOTHING
Don not wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties or jewellery
(rings, wristwatches) to catch in moving parts. NON SLIP
footwear is recommended. Wear protective hair covering
to contain long hair. Roll long sleeves above the elbow.
6. USE SAFETY GOGGLES & EAR PROTECTION
Goggles must comply with safety standards (BS 2092) and
be worn at all times. Normal spectacles are NOT safety
glasses. Also, use a face or dust mask if cutting job is dusty
and wear ear plugs or muffs during extended periods of
operation.
7. AVOID ACCIDENTAL STARTING
Make sure switch is in 'OFF' position before plugging in
cable to the power supply.
8. KEEP GUARDS IN PLACE and in working order.
9. REMOVE ADJUSTING KEYS AND WRENCHES
Make a habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting
wrenches are removed from tool before turing it on.
10. DO NOT OVERREACH
Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
11. DO NOT FORCE TOOL
It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is
designed.
12. USE THE RIGHT TOOLS & ATTACHMENTS
Do not force tools or attachments to do a job for which
they are not designed. Also, USE RECOMMENDED
ACCESSORIES only - the use of improper accessories
may be dangerous. Follow the instructions that accompany
the accessories.
13. SECURE WORK
Use clamps or a vise where applicable to hold work.
This frees both hands to operate the machine.
Never hand-hold work if using saw in horizontal position.
14. DIRECTION OF FEED
Feed work into a blade or cutter against the direction
rotation of the blade or cutter.
15. NEVER LEAVE MACHINE RUNNING UNATTENDED
Turn power off. Do not leave until machine is at a full stop.
16. DISCONNECT POWER TO THE TOOLS before
servicing, when changing accessories such as cutters, etc.
17. MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE
Keep tools sharp and clean for best and safest
performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and
changing accessories.
18. CHECK DAMAGED PARTS
Before further use of the tool, a guard or other part that is
damaged should be carefully checked to ensure that it will
operate properly and perform its intended function. Check
for alignment of moving parts, breakage of parts,
mounting and any other conditions that may affect its
operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be
properly repaired or replaced.
19. NEVER STAND ON TOOL
Serious injury could occur if the tool is tipped or if the
cutting tool is accidentally contacted. Do not store
materials above or near the tool such that it is necessary to
stand on the tool to reach them.
20. MOVING THE SAW
Always turn power off and lower the head to its horizontal
position when moving the saw unit.
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Clean the band saw after each operation.
2.
Coat the machine with rust-proof oil.
3.
Use a standard grade oil to lubricate the bandsaw's components. SAE-30 oil is recommended for this purpose.
