What You Need Before
Installing Ojo

High-speed Internet connection with modem

Visa

Ojo’s 12-digit ID number (located on the bottom of your Ojo)

Router, if sharing an Internet connection or subscribing to DSL

Install a Router
Note:
If you already have a router or gateway installed, go to
step .

Install your router in accordance with its documentation.

Ensure your broadband connection is working through your
router by using your PC to visit http://www.ojophone.com.

Activate Ojo
Call an Ojo Representative. Ojo uses the same phone number as
your home phone to make video calls. You must call from this
phone number to have your service activated.

Optional:
Record a Video Greeting
Note:
Ojo has the ability to receive and record messages. A video
greeting can be recorded by following the steps below.
When recording your greeting, it can be up to 30 seconds in
length.

From the Ojo Home screen, highlight Main Menu and press
SELECT.

From the Main Menu, highlight Messaging and press
SELECT.

From the Messaging menu, highlight Record Greeting and
press SELECT.

Press
SELECT to begin recording your greeting. Press SELECT
again when you have fi nished recording.

From the Messaging menu, highlight Review Greeting and
press SELECT.

Make a Video Call
To use Ojo for video calls, the other party must have an Ojo phone.

Move the camera slider all the way to the right.

Enter “1” plus the phone number.

Press
TALK. A screen will appear showing the number you’ve
dialed. When the party answers, you will be able to hear her;
however, you will not be able to see her until she presses
SELECT on her Ojo.

To hang up, press END.
Note:
If the person you are calling appears too dark, ask her to
adjust her lighting. Also, if you appear too dark in your video
self-image, adjust your lighting

Ojo (PVP-1000) Users Only:
Install the Battery Pack

Remove the battery cover from the back
of the handset by pressing down on the
indent and sliding the cover down and off
of the handset.

Insert the battery connector into the socket
so that it fi ts correctly. (The groove on the
connector will fi t into the opening at the
top of the battery compartment.)

Insert the battery pack into the
compartment. Gently press the wires into
the remaining space above the
battery pack.

Slide the battery cover upward and snap
into place.
Note:
It takes approximately twelve hours to
charge the battery pack for the fi rst time.
You can activate and make calls before
the handset is fully charged by leaving
the handset in the cradle.

Connect Ojo to Your Router

Plug one end of the provided Ethernet cable into the “ROUTER/
MODEM” port on the back of Ojo (Diagram 2).

Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into an open port on
your router (Diagram 2) and go to step .
Note:
Locate Ojo anywhere in your house using HomePlug™
technology. For more information about using HomePlug in
your home network, visit www.homeplug.com.

Optional for Ojo (PVP-1000) Users Only:
Connect Ojo to Your Conventional Telephone Line
Note:
Ojo can be used to make conventional telephone calls. This feature is optional and is not required for video phone operation.

Plug one end of the provided telephone cable into the port labeled “WALL” on the back of Ojo (Diagram 2).

Plug the other end into a telephone wall jack and go to step .

Power Up Ojo

Plug Power Block into the Power Cord.

Plug the other end of the Power Cord into an electrical outlet.

Plug the power connector of the Power Block into the “12V” port on the back of Ojo (Diagram 2).

Ojo start-up sequence begins (2–3 minutes).

Place the handset into the base.
Note:
If a problem is identifi ed on screen, go to step where an Ojo Representative will assist you.
