Chapter 3: 3e-522AW Wireless Access Point Internal
Management Functions
Introduction
The 3e-522AW Wireless Access Point incorporates the Management
Information Bases (MIBs) necessary to work as a Plug and Play device
with the AirWave Management Platform (AMP). As such, no further
setup is required once incorporated in the AMP network.
The 522AW has internal WEB-based management screens which can
be configured, if desired, to ensure additional or alternative protection.
Description of how to access the internal screens and their use follows:
Information you will need
If further configuration of the individual 3e-522AW is desired, the
LAN administrator should have the following information:
z
IP address – a list of IP addresses that are assignable to be as-
signed to the APs
z
Subnet Mask for the LAN
z
Default gateway IP address
z
DNS IP address
z
SSID – an ID number/letter string that you want to use in the
configuration process to identify all members of the wireless
LAN.
z
The MAC addresses of all the wireless cards that will be used to
access the 3e-522AW network of Access Points (if MAC address
filtering is to be enabled)
z
WEP encryption key (26 characters)
Initial setup using the “Local” port
Caution is advised if making changes to the management screens in
the 3e-522AW Wireless Access Point, since, if it is used as part of an AMP
network, the AMP server will provide all the necessary setup informa-
tion for normal operation through the DHCP server as soon as it
recognises the presence of the 3e-522AW AP.
If additional configuration is needed, proceed as follows.
Plug one end of the Crossover Ethernet cable which came with the
3e-522AW into the LAN port of the AP and the other end to an Ethernet
