Introduction
The CheetahSwitch Workgroup-3024 is a high-density switch
thats perfect for moving large workgroups from conventional
10Mbps Ethernet to multiple-segment 100Mbps Fast Ethernet.
This switch delivers dedicated 100Mbps links to each attached
LAN segment (independent collision domain) or any PC attached
directly to the switch all with conventional cabling and adapters.
It completely eliminates the bottlenecks of shared 10Mbps Ethernet
networks by providing a wide bandwidth of up to 2.4 Gbps. This makes it ideal for
increasing the throughput of interconnected Ethernet / Fast Ethernet hubs or server farms.
Moreover, this switch can further enhance performance by segregating broadcast
domains into VLAN Port Groups.
The CheetahSwitch Workgroup-3024 has 16 100BASE-TX ports in the base unit. It also
provides two slots for optional 4-port media expansion modules, that include 100BASE-TX
(10/100 Mbps) or 100BASE-FX (SC/ST type) ports. With both modules installed, this
switch can support 24 100Mbps swiched connections. And when using the fiber optic
ports, you can easily connect to remote sites up to 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) away.

Description of Hardware
The CheetahSwitch Workgroup-3024 base unit contains 16 100BASE-TX ports. It also
has two slots for optional 4-port media expansion modules, including 4 100BASE-TX ports,
4 100BASE-FX ports, or a combination of 2 100BASE-TX and 2 100BASE-FX ports. All
100BASE-TX ports operate at 10 or 100 Mbps, and support auto-negotiation, and half or
full duplex. 100BASE-FX ports are fixed at 100Mbps, and only support half or full duplex.
All RJ-45 ports support auto-negotiation, so the transmission speed and mode will be
automatically set if this feature is also supported by the attached device. Otherwise,
the speed and mode can be set for any connection using the Configure button or the
console port (on the back of the switch).
