through the same D-ring and then pull the strap snug. (This is to hold the cam buckle
in place so that it doesn’t move when you tighten the strap.) Next take the webbing
end of the strap to the upper D-ring and thread it through.
Repeat this procedure for all
the D-rings on all the thwarts before installation.
The webbing should then be laced
through the floor lacing making sure to go around both ropes in the floor lacing. Then
into the jaws end of the cam buckle. Repeat this procedure on both sides of each end
of each thwart. Make sure that the thwarts are snug to the floor but not excessively
tight otherwise you risk doing damage to the lace loops. (This may require some
adjustment by inflating the boat and thwarts completely and checking the snugness of
the thwarts, then if necessary deflate and adjust.)
If using
Lace-in thwarts
, begin by tying one of the short thwart ropes (two per
thwart) securely to the floor lacing rope at the location where end of the thwart cap will
be attached. Lace the rope through the first loop of the thwart cap, then back down
around another point on the floor lacing rope, back up through the next lace loop, and
continuing on to the last lace loop. Pull the slack tight and tie off the end of the rope
securely. Before lacing the other side of the thwart, be sure that the starting point on
the floor lacing rope is the same (otherwise the thwart will not be aligned).
If using
quick links
, attach each link to one of the corresponding floor lacing
ropes.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF YOUR AIRE INFLATABLE
Your AIRE inflatable was built to be used. But with use, comes wear. With all of
the surfing, flintstoning, loading, unloading, beaching, basking, sun screen oils, food,
salt water, sandals and everything else that your boat will be exposed to, these simple
guidelines will help keep your boat looking and performing its best.
Treat your boat as you would yourself
Do not set your boat on sharp objects
Do not over-inflate your boat (recommended pressure: 2.5 psi)
Keep the zippers clean
Clean with soap and water
Store dry
SHORT TERM STORAGE:
Allow to air dry, deflate and roll loosely
LONG TERM STORAGE:
Store your boat dry and clean. After use, rinse off sand,
leaves, algae, barnacles, salt, etc.., and allow the boat to air dry for several days on
soft pressure. Residual water inside the urethane AIRECELLS will not damage the
boat. Store the boat in a cool, dry place out of sunlight and away from exhaust fumes.
Ideally, storing the boat inflated to shape but not to paddling/rowing pressure is the
best, but not everyone has the space necessary. You should be able to pinch an inch
of material.
TRANSPORTING:
Wrap the boat in a heavy tarp, cloth, or AIRE Boat bag. Be sure
not to load other equipment on top of the boat that could wear holes in it.
VALVE
CAPS SHOULD ALWAYS BE IN PLACE
WHENEVER TRANSPORTING YOUR BOAT.
