6.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
If the Distribution Amplifi er does not appear to be functioning,
make certain that the DVI source and all of the devices connected
to the unit are functioning correctly by connecting each DVI device
currently connected to the Amplifi er’s outputs directly to the DVI
source using a cable with a length of 6 feet or less. (In other words,
bypass the amplifi er to make certain that the problem is not with
the source or destination devices) If the signal is present under those
conditions, make certain that the power is present to the distribution
amp. If it is, measure the cable length you are attempting to
use between the sources to the switcher and the switcher to the
monitor. The input cables should be 6 feet or less in length and the
output cables must be less than 33 feet long and all cables should
be premium quality. Lastly, inspect the cables and connectors for
damage.
6.1 Non-HDCP Compliant Devices
If some devices connected to the distribution amp outputs work but
others do not, make certain that the devices that do not appear to
work are HDCP compliant. A non-HDCP compliant device will not
work with a signal that has HDCP encoding present.
6.2 Cable Length
If you need to span a distance of greater than 6 feet to reach the
distribution amp’s input, purchase Audio Authority’s 1351 DVI
Repeater which will allow you to extend a cable run up to 40 feet
using premium cable.
6.3 Complex Confi gurations
Due to the nature of High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection,
and the many types of information that must be passed along
the chain of devices, complex confi gurations involving DVI
distribution amps and switchers may not work as expected. Do not
use a DVI switcher in the signal path after a distribution amp; this
confi guration does not work.
