Temperature measurements are also affected by the type of measurement method used. Rectal / ear
temperature is generally 1/2 to 1 degree higher than oral temperature, and underarm temperature is
generally 1/2 to 1 degree lower than oral. The following chart lists general temperature ranges for each
method.
Measurement method
Normal temperature range
Fever temperature range
Underarm
95.5 ~ 98.5 °F (35.3 ~ 36.9 °C)
98.9 °F or higher (37.2 °C or higher)
Forehead
95.0 ~ 100.4°F (35.0 ~ 38.0 °C)
A temperature that is 1.0 ~ 1.5 °F
NOTE: Measurements for some
(0.6 ~ 0.8 °C) higher than usual.
adults may be lower than 95.0 °F
It is highly recommended that you
(35.0 °C)
use our IR Forehead Thermometer
to establish the normal temperature
range for each person.
Oral
96.6 ~ 99.5 °F (35.9 ~ 37.5 °C)
99.6 °F or higher (37.6 °C or higher)
Rectal / Ear
97.7 ~ 100.3 °F (36.5 ~ 37.9 °C)
100.4 °F or higher (38.0 °C or higher)
How to Take a Measurement:
1) Remove protective cap before use and make sure lens is clean. If not, clean with cotton swab dipped
in alcohol and let dry.
2) Gently position the probe flush on the center of the forehead, midway between the eyebrow and the
hairline. Press the button once to start the measurement & you will hear a beep sound. Once the
measurement has been completed you will hear a short melody. Then you will hear the result via the
speaker (option available only in English) or see it from the LCD.
3) The result will be stored in the memory automatically. If 30 sets of memory are stored already, the first
set of data will be removed, and others decreased by 1 with the new one at the top. (Note: the
recorded data will be removed automatically when it is recorded over 30 days.)
4) The maximum number of temperature measurements is 3 times consecutively (due to different
measurement places small differences of measurement results are acceptable). It is possible that the
correct measurement is obstructed despite the recovery. In order to take further temperature
measurements, up to four or more times, wait for 10 minutes before another measure.
5) Display of measurement results:
A. True value display for result falls between 32.0 ~ 42.9 °C ; 89.6 ~ 109.3 °F
B. "HI" displayed for result above 42.9 °C / 109.3 °F
C. "LO" displayed for result below 32.0 °C / 89.6 °F
6) At completion of measurement, the unit automatically returns to time mode after 30 seconds.
7) The display will automatically turn off 3 minutes after the last key was pressed.
Basic functions:
1. Current date and time display: Range of date display falls within Gregorian calendar year 1901~2099,
time display mode includes 12 hours shift or 24 hours shift (not user selected). The initial time for a
powered system is set at January 1, 2004.
2. Measurement and display of temperature: Measurement ranges from 32.0 °C (89.6 °F) to 42.9 °C
(109.3 °F)
3. 30 sets of measurement records stored and searchable: Maximum 30 sets of temperature records
stored. Each set has a maximum storage time of 30 days. Temperature is stored together with
measuring date, time (morning or afternoon) and status (day time or night time).
4. Voice prompt: report measurement results (in °C or °F) or current time
