Product Description:
The Universal Tubing Adapter is designed for use with the Aspira* Drainage
Catheter. It connects to the valve and enables connection of the Aspira*
Drainage Catheter to a drainage system.
Indications For Use:
The Universal Tubing Adapter is intended to provide access to the Aspira*
Drainage Catheter. It is used to drain fluid using standard wall suction, water
seal drainage system, glass vaccum bottle, or other appropriate method.
Warnings:
• Intended for single use. DO NOT REUSE. Reuse and/or repackaging may
create a risk of patient or user infection, compromise the structural integrity
and/or essential material and design characteristics of the device, which may
lead to device failure, and/or lead to injury, illness or death of the patient.
• Attach the Universal Tubing Adapter to wall suction line prior to
attaching it to the catheter.
• Donotuseexcessiveforceonthevalveorcatheter.Excessiveforceor
incorrect usage may damage the device, or cause accidental catheter
dislodgement.
• DonotaccessthecathetervalvewithanythingotherthanAspira*Drainage
System approved devices.
• Disposeofusedproductinaccordancewithacceptedmedicalpracticeand
applicable local, state and federal regulations. Used product may present a
potential biohazard.
• Donotuseifpackageisdamaged.
• Sterilizedusingethyleneoxide.Donotresterilize.
• Ensurethattheexpirationdatehasnotpassed.
Precautions:
• Federal (USA) law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
• Carefullyreadandfollowinstructionspriortousingthisdevice.
• Usethisdeviceonlyifyouareaqualifiedhealthprofessional.
• UseonlytheUniversalTubingAdaptertoaccessthecatheterwithawall
suction unit, water seal drainage system, glass vacuum bottle, or another
appropriate device.
Possible Complications:
Pleural and Peritoneal fluid drainage may result in any of the following
complications:
• Accidentalcatheterdislodgement,
breakage or removal
• Exposuretobodyfluids
• Fluidpath-wayblockage
• Hypotension(lowbloodpressure)
subsequenttodrainage
• Infection
• Leakage
• Lowflowrate/prolongeddrainage
• Occlusion
• Painduringfluidremoval
• Skinirritation
Pleural Complications:
• Re-expansionpulmonaryedema
Peritoneal Complications:
• Electrolyteimbalance
• Loculationofperitonealcavity
• Peritonitis
• Proteindepletion
