Feature selection
Channel change disable
The radio channel can be locked.
Default channel
Each unit can have its own default channel.
Treble boost/cut adjustment
(+/- 20dB @ 10KHz relative to level at 1KHz).
Bass boost/cut adjustment
(+/- 20dB @ 100Hz relative to level at 1KHz).
Tone adjustment cancel
This switch provides a flat frequency response.
AGC fast/slow
A choice of two AGC recovery speeds.
Dynamic mute enable
This control allows automatic environmental sound muting.
Manual mute enable
Allows manual control of the microphone.

Multichannel choice
Up & down buttons allow easy selection of
radio channels. Pressing both
together will select the chosen
default channel. These controls
are only operational for a
short period after turning on
to reduce the likelihood of
‘fiddling’.
LED alert
The red LED alert indicator
gives you a confidence wink
when the fmGenie is switched on
and will flash when acting as a
warning indicator.
Designer flash
The flash, available in a wide choice of
colours, is not just an important
element of the visual design, it also
conceals some of the system
management settings.
TV sound input
On the fmGenie transmitter the 3.5mm
socket can be used to connect directly to a
TV SCART or similar signal level. The
microphone normally remains live allowing
talkover but can be muted if required.
Microphone options
The fmGenie transmitter may be
used with any of the wide range of
external microphone options or
the internal microphone.
External microphones use a
2.5mm connection. This
connection is also used for
an aerial when using the
internal microphone.
The fmGenie receiver also
has an environmental
microphone facility.
Audio output
modes
The fmGenie receiver has
two audio output modes;
‘High level ’ for neck loop
or headphones and ‘Low
level’ for hearing aid direct
input. Connection is via a
3.5mm socket.
Volume controls
The fmGenie receiver has two thumbwheel
volume controls, one for the transmitter and one
for the environmental microphone – they can be
locked as required.

The user preference controls and
system management settings are
personal to the user and can be
tailored to their individual
preferences and hearing loss.
These settings would normally
be chosen with the guidance of
an audiologist and once set are
unlikely to need changing.
The user preference controls
are accessed by sliding open
the battery compartment cover.
The system management
settings are hidden under
the designer flash.
