The WUA-1340 lets you access your stored data and media files using a
wirelessconnectionfromvirtuallyanywherewithintheoperatingrangeof
yourwirelessnetwork.Keepinmind,however,thatthenumber,thickness
and location of walls, ceilings, or other objects that the wireless signals
mustpassthrough,maylimittherange.Typicalrangesvarydependingon
thetypesofmaterialsandbackgroundRF(radiofrequency)noiseinyour
homeorbusiness.Thekeytomaximizingwirelessrangeistofollowthese
basicguidelines:

KeepthenumberofwallsandceilingsbetweentheWUA-1340andother
networkdevicestoaminimum-eachwallorceilingcanreduceyour
WUA-1340’srangefrom3-90feet(1-30meters.)Positionyourdevices
sothatthenumberofwallsorceilingsisminimized.

Beawareofthedirectlinebetweennetworkdevices.Awallthatis1.5
feetthick(.5meters),ata45-degreeangleappearstobealmost3feet(1
meter)thick.Ata2-degreeangleitlooksover42feet(14meters)thick!
Positiondevicessothatthesignalwilltravelstraightthroughawallor
ceiling(insteadofatanangle)forbetterreception.

Keepyourproductaway(atleast3-6feetor1-2meters)fromelectrical
devicesorappliancesthatgenerateRFnoise.
BuildingMaterialsmakeadifference.Asolidmetaldoororaluminum
studsmayhaveanegativeeffectonrange.Trytopositionaccesspoints,
wirelessrouters,andcomputerssothatthesignalpassesthroughdrywall
oropendoorways.Materialsandobjectssuchasglass,steel,metal,
walls with insulation, water (fish tanks), mirrors, file cabinets, brick, and
concretewilldegradeyourwirelesssignal.
If you are using 2.4GHz cordless phones or X-10 (wireless products
suchasceilingfans,lights,andhomesecuritysystems),yourwireless
connection may degrade dramatically or drop completely. Make sure
your2.4GHzphonebaseisasfarawayfromyourwirelessdevicesas
possible.Thebasetransmitsasignalevenifthephoneinnotinuse.
