FocalPoint™ Gateway Installation & Operation Manual - P/N: 52649:Rev: B3 2/11/10
The Gamewell/FCI 7200 has several types of cards that can be installed. The loop devices
(detectors, modules, etc.) connect to the different cards. For example an ALU and an AEU card
both can be addressed as card 1. The point ID will include the card type. For example a module is
addressed as module 56 and is attached to the first loop on ALU card 1. The point ID in this
example will be:
“ALU1L1M56”
In addition the two character event status will also be appended after the 56 in this example. The
two character event status codes are identified in
Table 4.2, “FCI 7200 Point ID Formats for Off
Normal Events,” on page 35
.
So if that module above is missing the full point ID will be:
“ALU1L1M56MI”
If that module above has an output fail condition the point ID will be:
“ALU1L1M56OP”
For smoke detectors the character M is replaced with an S. An output fail condition will not occur
on a smoke detector. A good example for a smoke detector is the dirty “DY” condition.
The card numbers are 1-9 and a-f. For example the 10th ALU card is addressed as “ALUa” and the
15th ALU card is addressed as “ALUf”. The a-f characters are lower case and FocalPoint is case
sensitive. A majority of the icons on the FocalPoint system are loop devices (detectors, modules,
etc.) and they will include the card type and number in their device ID. Some events such as
Battery Fault will not include the card type and number.
4.5 About Auto-created Points
If a Gamewell/FCI 602, 610, 632, 654, and 658 panels are not programmed to use the default
descriptions for the device types (point types) they will be auto-created as questions marks in the
FocalPoint™ Workstation. In order for the points to be auto-created at the Workstation with an
appropriate icon, the description field programmed for the point, using SmartProgram II Dictionary
Item 2, must use the factory default strings.
"SmartProgram II Application"
is the Gamewell/FCI
PC application used program a panel.
During system setup when the gateway receives an event from a point and if the Gamewell/FCI
602, 610, 632, 654, and 658 panel’s factory default description for a point is not present or a custom
description is present for a point, then the Workstation administrator will have to manually change
auto-created question mark to an applicable point icon
4.5.1 SmartProgram II Application
SmartProgram II has five different “Dictionary Items” and one of the parameters for the point is the
description. In the application the descriptions are labeled as “Dictionary Item 1” through
“Dictionary Item 5.” “Dictionary Item 2” contains the string values used to identify the point type.
