INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS

Unpacking
Afterunpacking,immediatelyreportanydamage
to the delivering carrier or dealer. Keep the
shippingcartons.

Selecting a location
Select a location for the repeater that allows
adequate air circulation, free from extreme
heat, cold, or vibrations, and away from TV
sets, TV antenna elements, radios and other
electromagneticsources.
■
Antenna connections
For radio communications, the antenna is of
criticalimportance,alongwithoutputpowerand
sensitivity. Select antenna(s), such as a well-
matched 50 Ω antenna, and feedline. 1.5:1 or
betterofVoltageStandingWaveRatio(VSWR)
isrecommendedfordesiredband.Ofcourse,the
transmissionlineshouldbeacoaxialcable.
CAUTION:Protectrepeaterfromlightning
byusingalightningarrestor.
NOTE:Therearemanypublications
coveringproperantennasandtheir
installation.Checkwithyourlocaldealerfor
moreinformationandrecommendations.

Grounding
Topreventelectricalshock,televisioninterference
(TVI), broadcast interference (BCI) and other
problems, ground the transceiver through the
[GND]terminalontherearpanel.
Forbestresults,connectaheavygaugewireor
straptoalongearth-sunkcopperrod.Makethe
distancebetweenthe[GND]terminalandground
asshortaspossible.
WARNING:
NEVERconnectthe
[GND]terminaltoagasorelectricpipe,
sincetheconnectioncouldcausean
explosionorelectricshock.
TYPE-N CONNECTOR INSTALLATION EXAMPLE
Slidethenut,flatwasher,rubbergasketandclampoverthecoaxial
cable,thencuttheendofthecableevenly.
Stripthecableandfoldthebraidbackovertheclamp.
Softsolderthecenterconductor.Installthecenterconductorpinand
solderit.
Carefullyslidetheplugbodyintoplacealigningthecenterconductor
pinonthecable.Tightenthenutontotheplugbody.
