Top panel functions and operations
1. USB input
Connect your USB device to the KCD550 USB via this socket. This unit supports USB memory stick and hard
drives (max 2 GB) the KCD550 USB will play MP3 and WAV formats. Please note when using WAV format the
pitch range is limited to +/- 16%
2. CD / USB
Press this button to switch the source between USB and CD input. The unit must be paused to change the source
to prevent accidental use.
3. TRACK
Turn this control clock/anti-clockwise to navigate through partitions, folders and tracks. Press the control knob to
load a track. Press and turn it to skip 10 tracks for quick track search.
The Track control button is also used with other functions to select a specific mode.
The button can’t skip a track during loop playback.
4. FOLDER
USB flash drive
Press this button to switch between MP3 folder and MP3 file view. When the view stops at Folder selection,
pressing and holding this button for 2 seconds will return to the Track view.
Hard drive
When you use a hard drive as your USB source, pressing this button can switch between file, folder and partition
views. Whether the menu stops at a partition or a folder, holding this button down for 2 seconds will return to the
Track view.
In File view, Total-Track shows the total MP3 files in the folder. In Folder view, Total-Track shows the total folders
in the CD or in the USB drive. In Partition view, Total-Track shows the total partitions on the hard drive.
5. PROG: The maximum number of tracks that can be edited is 99.
PROG has three views – Program Editing, Program Track Viewing, and Program Play.
Start PROG-Edit:
In pause mode, press this button to edit program. This view is PROG Editing.
The display MM:SS: FF position will show “P-xx” and then “xx” will flash. Select a track by turning the TRACK
button and then pressing TRACK to store it. Repeat the same process and finally press TRACK to finish a program
list editing. It will go into PROG Track Viewing and allow you to review each track which has been edited by
pressing SKIP.
Play PROG:
Press PLAY/PAUSE to play the program and PROG will flash in the display.
Exit PROG Play/Edit:
When the PROG playback is paused, pressing this button for two seconds will return to normal playback. Once
returnied to the normal playback, pressing this button again will enter the program again and will continue the
program from the last PROG track number.
In PROG Editing view, pressing this button for 2 seconds will wipe the PROG list and return to normal playback.
6. RELAY
Press the button to activate this function. When one unit is in Play mode, and the other unit is in Pause mode;
pause the playing unit, the other unit will automatically start to play.
This button is also for switching between the Gain and the Parameter of the digital effect shown in the display.
7. JOG MODE
Press this to switch the jog wheel mode between Normal, Search and Scratch modes.
