NaimUniti Quick Start Guide
English
1 Installing and Connecting
• Unscrew and remove the CD drawer transit bolt from the underside of the unit.
Handle NaimUniti with extra care once the bolt is removed. Retain the bolt for future
use. Stand NaimUniti on an appropriate, stable surface. Make sure NaimUniti is well
ventilated.
• Check that the
mains
supply specified on the NaimUniti rear panel is appropriate for
your territory. Connect NaimUniti to the mains using the supplied cable but do not
switch it on until all other connections have been made.
• Identify the
Signal ground Switch
and select the “chassis” option unless NaimUniti is
connected in a hi-fi system incorporating another earthed source component, or
mains “hum” is audible through the loudspeakers when NaimUniti is switched on.
• Connect the left and right speakers to the
speaker outputs
on the rear panel. Ensure
when connecting speakers that the positive and negative connection orientation at
both ends of the cable is the same for both channels.
• If the NaimUniti
daB/Fm
tuner is to be used, a suitable aerial must be connected to the
DAB/FM aerial socket. The DAB/FM tuner cannot operate without an aerial. Contact
your local Naim retailer or distributor for advice on selecting and installing an aerial.
• If a
subwoofer
is to be used, connect its signal cable to one of the subwoofer outputs
on the NaimUniti rear panel. The NaimUniti subwoofer outputs must be enabled and
configured from the Speakers setup menu. Press the handset
setup
( ) key and select
Speakers
. See the Reference Manual for more information.
• If any external audio sources are to be used with NaimUniti, connect these, using
the appropriate cables, to the rear panel
analogue
or
digital
inputs. If a Naim
phono
preamplifier is to be used, connect it using the cable supplied with the preamplifier, to
the
phono
input.
• If NaimUniti is to play audio from a
UPnP
™ server or from an internet radio station
either its
network socket
must be connected to a router using an RJ45 Ethernet cable
or its
WiFi antenna
must be fitted.
iradio
also requires a high-speed network internet
connection.
Note:
NaimUniti is configured when shipped to connect to a wired network automatically.
However, if your NaimUniti has been previously used and its network configuration altered,
or your router requires non-standard settings, it may not be able to do so. Refer to the
Reference Manual or contact your retailer if this appears to be the case. If a wireless
network connection is to be used, it is likely that configuration will be required via a setup
menu. Refer to the Reference Manual for more information.
