Section 7: Troubleshooting
The table below lists common problems you may have with the BPAP unit and possible solutions to those
problems. If none of the corrective actions solve the problem, contact your home care provider.
Problem

The device does not
operate
Power not connected or
Standby status
Check the power connection, ensure the power cord is well
connected,
or press on/off key enter operate state.
The device deliver low
pressure
Air filter or air outlet is
blocked, or Ramp Time is
in use
Clean or replace air filter, clean air outlet. If necessary, cancel
Ramp time or reset time.
The blower works,
but the pressure is
obviously different from
setting parameter.
Air tubing not connected
properly.
Mask or air tubing leak
Check the tubing connect,
Check leak and adjust position of mask and tubing.
Insufficient air delivery
Air Inlet blocked, or
Ramp time is in use.
Check and clean air inlet.
Shorten ramp time if necessary.
The airflow from the
BPAP seems warm.
Air filter dirty,
Air inlet blocked,
Near with wall, bedding,
heating equipment etc.
Replace or clean the filter.
Make sure the BPAP unit is away from bedding or curtains that
could block the flow of air around the device. Make sure the
device is away from heating equipment (e.g., forced air vents,
radiators).
Excessive noise
Breathing circuit not
connected properly;
Mask or air tubing leak,
Humidifier not installed
properly.
Check the breathing circuit connect,
Check leak and adjust position of mask and tubing.
Check and reinstall the humidifier.
The noise level of the
BPAP has changed
to include unusual or
harsh sounds during
operation.
Component failure
Stop use. Contact your provider for service.
Please have the serial number of BPAP unit ready when you
call.
The BPAP unit has
been dropped or
mishandled;
The enclosure of the
BPAP unit is broken
Component may break
Stop use. Contact your provider for service.
Please have the serial number of BPAP unit ready when you
call.
Water has entered the
BPAP unit
The device may break due
to water in.
Stop use. Contact your provider for service.
Please have the serial number of BPAP unit ready when you
call.
The ”Mask Alert”
message appears on
the display screen
and the alert tone is
sounding.
Mask removed or dislodged. Press Alarm mute key on the device to silence the alert tone.
The system has detected a large leak in the circuit or you have
taken the mask off without turning the airflow off.
Check the circuit connections for leaks.
The ”blower fault”
message appears on
the display screen.
Blower fault or improperly
connect
Stop use. Contact your provider for service.
Please have the serial number of BPAP unit ready when you
call.
The ”Card error”
message appears on
the display screen.
The micro SD card inserted
improperly
Remove the micro SD card and reinsert the card. If the
message appears again, Contact your provider for service.
Please have the serial number of BPAP unit ready when you
call.
Sore or dry eyes
The mask is not properly
fitted or positioned.
Unsuitable type or size
Readjust the headgear.
If the problem continues, contact your provider to be fitted for a
different mask style or size.
Nasal, sinus, or ear
pain.
inflammation
You may have a sinus infection or middle ear infection.
Stop use the device, and contact your health care professional.
Redness on your face
where the mask or
accessory contacts
your skin.
Improper mask fitting or
improper mask cleaning
Irritation or allergic reaction
to the mask material.
Loosen the headgear. Check the mask’s spacer to see that it
is in good condition. Use a barrier between your skin and the
mask, such as 3M’s Microfoam tape. Be sure to cleaning the
mask thoroughly according to mask cleaning instructions.
If the problem continues, contact your provider to be fitted
for a different mask style or size. Contact your health care
professional if the problem persists.
