Configuration Procedure

Table 3-2. Module VC-6/LB, Channel Parameters (Cont.)
Parameter Description
Receive Level
Selects the nominal output level of the receive path. The output level is set in 0.5 dB
steps between the range of +2 to -23 dBm.
Select the receive level to match the TLP-receive of the equipment connected to the
channel (see
Figure 3-1
).
Default: 0.0
Remote Type
Selects the remote connection type of the channel:
LB
Link to the remote LB telephone is direct, via a point-to-point line
connection.
PBX
(VC-6/4LB only) Link to the remote LB is via a PBX extension line.
Refer to
Applications
in Chapter 1 for details.
Default: LB
Conversation Time
(VC-6/4LB only)
Limits the duration of a call on that channel. Unlike regular phones, LB phones do not
send an “on-hook” signal when one of the sides has finished a call; therefore a timer is
used to end the call. Once the initiating side begins a call, a timer is activated. When the
set period has expired, the initiating module will signal an end of the call and the channel
will be returned to an idle state. In LB to PBX applications, this feature is required to free
the PBX extension for other users.
2 MIN
Call is disconnected after 2 minutes
3 MIN
Call is disconnected after 3 minutes
5 MIN
Call is disconnected after 5 minutes
Unlimited
Call is never disconnected
Refer to
Applications
in Chapter 1 for details.
Default: 2 MIN
Oper Mode
Selects the operating mode of the channel:
BI-DIR
Normal
(point-to-point) Bidirectional mode.
UNI-BRD RX
Channel operates in the Unidirectional RX mode. In this mode, the
channel can only receive the signals carried by the assigned
timeslots/sequence, but does not transmit.
UNI-BRD TX
Channel operates in the Unidirectional TX mode. In this mode, the
channel can transmit (broadcast) its signals via multiple selected links.
Channel does not receive any signals.
Note: the links that will broadcast the VC-6/LB channel are those that have the channel
assigned to one of their timeslots. See DEF TS command in the Megaplex-
2100 System Installation and Operation Manual.
BID-BRD RX
Channel operates in the Bidirectional Broadcast RX mode. In this mode,
the channel receives the signals carried by the assigned
timeslots/sequence. This mode is similar to the Unidirectional RX mode,
except that the channel can also transmit back to the central unit that is
broadcasting. This mode is used in polled applications.
Refer to the
Megaplex-2100 System Installation and Operation Manual
for explanations on
unidirectional and bidirectional broadcast applications.
Default: BI-DIR
