ABOUT THE CABLES
- If the cables have to be inserted through metal
walls or other sharp-edged materials, use a cable
duct or cable bushes!
- Do not lay cables loose or with sharp bends on
electrically conductive materials(metals)!
- Do not pull the cables!
- Do not lay 115V main cables and 12V/24V DC cable
together in the same cable duct!
- The specified minimum cables cross-section must
be complied with!
- Fix cables properly in such a way that no one can
trip over them!
- Lay cables in such a way that they are not exposed
to the risk of damage!
The main use for this twin battery charger is for motor
homes, on sailing yachts as well as for ambulances and
emergency vehicles, equipped with two separate
battery sources, i.e. starter and a consumer battery.
This offers the possibility to charge the batteries separately.
First of all the battery with the lowest level is charged
up to the level of the second battery. During a so-called
I-phase, the batteries will be charged with constant
current until a charging level of 13.8V(SEC-1245A) or
27.6V(SEC-2425A) is approached..
On decrease of the current to 80% of the rated current,
the charger switches over to the so-called UO-phase,
increasing the charging voltage to 14.4V (SEC-1245A)
or 28.8V (SEC-2425A).
This charging voltage is kept until the charging
current decreases to less than 5A or until the time
limit of the UO-phase, set by 2 hours, is exceeded.
Hereafter, the charging voltage is reduced to 13.8V
(SEC-1245A) or 27.6V (SEC-2425A).
The time limited UO-phase gives the advantage that a
possible external load of more than 5A does not lock
the charger in UO-phase (the charger will remain in
UO-phase for a max. of 2 hours).
The maximum capacity for lead-acid batteries should
not be higher than 500AH. For gel-batteries, check the
max. capacity with your dealer.

The temperature sensor available as an optional accessory (Part
No.TF-500) should be used to achieve optimum consumer battery
charging for the whole temperature range.
The chargers can be used with or without a temperature sensor
(optional accessory, Part No. TF-500). Switching from fixed charging
voltage levels to temperature-controlled charging characteristics
is done automatically by switching the charger ON and OFF.
Locate the temperature sensor in such a position that
it cannot be influenced by other heat sources (e.g. hot-
air or cooler hose). Plugged onto the socket, the IUOU
charger will automatically switch over to temperature-
controlled charging characteristics.
- The temperature sensor connection is done via the socket on
the rear side of the charger.
- It is best to attach the sensor head directly to the consumer
battery, e.g. using double sided adhesive tape fixing it on the
top of the consumer battery, or else placing it next to the
consumer battery.
For automatic activation of the temperature sensor, switch the
charger ON and OFF.
