CONTROLS AND ADJUSTMENTS
There are 2 switches provided on the rear panel:
•
POWER MODE - ‘AUTO’ switches the unit on automatically in the presence of an input signal, reverting to standby
mode several minutes after no activity. Press and hold front mounted rotary encoder to enable in the absence of an
input signal. ‘ON’ mode has the amplifier enabled continuously.
•
INPUT LEVEL - Select ‘NORMAL’ initially. If your source component has a higher than normal output level, select
•
‘Hi- LEVEL’, to optimise the range of the volume adjustment (see Specifications).
Adjustments are by means of the rotary encoder on the display panel. Functions are selected by either turning the control, or
single and double clicking. The full menu structure and operation is explained in the FUNCTION CHART.
•
VOLUME - This enables the output level to be set in 1 dB steps from -100 dB to 0 dB.
•
HIGH-PASS - This enables or disables the HIGH-PASS output sockets, and provides a low frequency roll off, when used
with a pair of stereo loudspeakers at either 12 of 24 dB per octave, variable between 31- 125 Hz.
•
LOW-PASS - This is used to adjust the Subwoofer’s upper frequency limit to achieve a correct balance with the main
speakers. An adjustment range of 31 Hz to 125 Hz is provided, again with 12 or 24 dB per octave filtering. For use in
LFE mode (Low Frequency Effects), where the filters in the AV receiver are left to set the transition to the main speakers,
generally the LOW-PASS filter should be set to disabled. This is the most common form of operation, but refer to the
manual of your AV receiver for more details. Sometimes, in a difficult acoustic environment, it is beneficial to provide
additional filtering within using the Subwoofer’s controls, even though the AV receiver has been set in LFE mode.
•
PHASE - This can be adjusted between 0 degrees (in phase) to 180 degrees (fully out of phase), in 15 degree
increments. The correct setting depends on room acoustics and the position of the Subwoofer in the room. Starting
with the 0 degrees setting, then the 180 degree setting, see which one results in the greatest amount of bass at the
listening position, being aware that all bass frequencies should sound evenly balanced. This is generally easier to
achieve using music. If neither setting is satisfactory, try the intermediate settings.
•
PARAMETRIC EQUALISER - Two equalisers are provided to give a boost or cut to a narrow range of frequencies
to compensate for room effects or to suit individual taste, and either or both may be enabled or disabled. A centre
frequency may be set between 31- 125 Hz, with a range of -12 to +3 dB. Q or sharpness of the boost or cut may be
adjusted between 2.0 and 14.4, lower values representing a wider frequency range, and higher ones a narrower range.
•
PRESET - This function enables any of the above adjustments to be saved or loaded in 3 memory locations. The user,
for example may have different preferences for music, movies or late night listening.
GRILLES
The side speaker grille assemblies are attached by hidden magnets, and can be removed if desired.
CARE OF CABINET
Clean only with a soft dry cloth.
