TROUBLESHOOTING
Fault LED Lit
ThefollowingconditionsmaylighttheFAULTLED:
• Poorconnectiontobattery(orframe).
• Chargingtoofast–decreasechargeratebypressingtheChargeRateSelec-
tor2A/4A/6Abuttontoselectalowerrate.
• Charging too slowly – battery is large and did not complete charging in 24
hours. Press the Charge Rate Selector 2A/4A/6A button to select a faster
rate.
• Shortedbatterycell–checkbattery.
• Openbatterycell–checkbattery.
• Internalshortedbatterycell–takeyourbatterytoacertifiedautomotiveser-
vicecenterforevaluation.
• Internaloverheatincharger–makesurefanisnotblocked.
Trycharginganother battery,if the FAULT LED does not light, then one of the
above problemsexists with the initial battery.Chargerwill not chargeand the
fanwillnotoperateifthereisafault.CallCustomerServicetollfreeat(800)
866-2161.
Reverse Polarity LED Lit
• Incorrectpolarity–followthestepsoutlinedin“ImportantSafetyInstructions”
atthefrontofthismanual.
Battery Not Accepting a Charge
• Makesurethatthechargerispluggedintoa“live”110/120voltACoutletand
PowerLEDislit.
• Unplugthechargerandcheckbatteryconnections–ensurethatthereisa
goodconnectionatthebatteryterminaland/orvehiclechassis.
• Check that the correct charge rate was selected for the battery being
charged.
• Ensureenoughchargingtimewasallowedtochargebattery.
Charging a Very Cold Battery
If the battery to be charged is extremely cold (in temperatures below freezing
–0˚C/32˚F),itcannotacceptahighrateofcharge,sotheinitialchargeratewill
beslow.Therateofchargewillincreaseasthebatterywarms.NEVERattemptto
chargeafrozenbattery.
