Connecting via
USB
The USB version of the QX1000 can also connect to a terminal or a host PC using
a coiled USB cable (VPN WCL115013-A). When connecting to a PC via a USB
port, the device, requires the additional installation of device drivers.

Connect the device to the host PC.

Wait until the host PC recognizes the new hardware and starts the Found New
Hardware Wizard.

Follow the instructions on the Found New Hardware Wizard to install the USB-
UART driver.
Contactless
Support
The QX1000 supports the global contactless program specifications from
American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover with virtually no changes to
existing payment hardware or software.
Install/Replace
SAM Card
You may need to install a security access module (SAM) card or replace an old
card.
To change or install
MSAMs

Remove the data cable from the back of the unit.

Place the QX1000 facedown on a soft, clean surface to protect the lens from
scratches.
CAUTION
When connecting with USB, the QX1000 USB cable should either be connected
directly to the terminal or host PC port, or to a powered USB hub.
If an extension cable is required, only USB-certified cables should be used.
NOTE
Additional instructions and device drivers are found and downloaded from the
VeriFone Technical Support page:

Browse to the INF file provided by VeriFone when specifying the driver location.
When the installation is done, check the list of ports on the Device Manager to see
the new USB device.
CAUTION
Observe standard precautions in handling electrostatically sensitive devices.
Electrostatic discharges can damage the equipment. VeriFone recommends
using a grounded anti-static wrist strap.
