Charger voltmeter test: Plug the charger into a wall socket, but do not plug it into the
scooter. If your charger has three holes, place the probes into the holes to the left and
right of the indented key. At the end of your charger port, the port that plugs into your
scooter, you will notice a indented "key". Place the voltmeter probes into the left and right
holes of that key.
How To Test Throttle Voltage
– 3 & 4 Wire Throttles
Tools: Multi-meter to read DC voltage
1) Set the scooter/bike so that the rear wheel is Not touching the ground.
2) Access the Controller/Wire Harness area and locate the Throttle control connector at
the Controller. It is the set of Red, Green & Black (& Yellow) wires coming from the handle
bars and going into a connector on the controller.
*You will be testing the “Red”, “Green”, and “Black” wires.
**Throttles with a light indicator will have a 4th Yellow wire.
3) Set the Multi-meter to test DC volts.
4) Turn the scooter On.
5) Place the Red meter probe into the connector on the “Red” wire and the Black meter
probe into the connector on the “Black” wire. The meter should measure +5 volts.
6
) Now place the Red meter probe on the “Green” wire. With out turning the throttle you
should read around +0.8 volts.
7) Now turn the throttle wide open. You should now read around +4 volts.
** If everything else powers up on the scooter and you do Not have +5 volts between the
“Red” and “Black” wire (#5) the controller is bad.
** If you did Not read the +0.8 to +4 volts then the throttle is bad.
How To Replace Throttle
1) Open the footplate. Run the new throttle wires down to the battery compartment. Find
the white connector on the controller marked throttle.
2) Disconnect this white connector. Mark the color of the wires on the white connector so
you can insert the new wires in the correct place.
3) Look down inside the white connector that goes to the throttle, you will see metal pins.
The pins are held in place by a small tab that bends outward.
4) Reach inside the front of the connector with a dental pick or jewelers screwdriver and
bend the tab in then pull the metal pin out the back of the connector. Do this for the other
wires.
