IV. TYPICAL USER/HOW TO SELL
When should I sell or recommend a S4M Thermal printer?
When the user wants one or more of the following:
•
An easy to use thermal printer at an affordable price
•
An operating environment that requires a rugged and reliable metal printer
•
An outstanding value that supports many applications and connectivity
options
•
A printer with a small footprint but still supports a full 8” roll of media
•
To replace a Datamax Prodigy/Prodigy Plus or an Intermec 3400d without
changing formats utilizing Zebra’s Alternative Programming Languages
•
The user has outgrown their desktop printer and is looking for a higher
volume printer or the user is looking for a more rugged printer to replace their
Stripe printers.
How does the S4M thermal printer compare to Zebra’s other printer products?
The S4M Thermal Printer packages ease-of-use, a metal frame/case design,
and a variety of connectivity options into a thermal printer that takes a full 8” roll
of media. Designed for the budget-minded, the S4M provides the features
needed to support many applications at an affordable price. Compared to similar
printers on the market, the S4M thermal printer offers an outstanding value.
While the S600
™
printer is made entirely of plastic, the S4M printer is
more robust containing a metal frame and case ideally suited for many
applications, including product ID, receiving, shipping, and compliance labeling.
The S4M printer has a similar duty cycle to the S600 or 2746e
™
, but much higher
than that of a desktop. The S4M printer has throughput that is superior to the
S600 and 2746e, but lower than the Z4Mplus
™
printer. Thus, the S4M printer is
the ideal printer for applications that need more than a desktop, yet don’t need
the horsepower of a Z4Mplus printer. Any applications that require print speed
greater than 6 inches per second and a higher throughput should be moved to a
Z4Mplus, which supports printing at 10 inches per second and thus a faster
throughput.
Both the Z4Mplus and S4M printers support a variety of connectivity
options, including internal Ethernet and wireless. The S600, S4M and Z4Mplus
printers all support a full 8” roll of media. The S4M printer can handle tear off and
peel without liner take-up, which is suitable for many applications, but those
applications that require cutter, peel with liner take-up and rewind will have to
look upwards to the Z4Mplus printer.
