UNDERSTANDING BLUETOOTH WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY
Bluetooth wireless technology eliminates the need for cables between your
PDA and your computers, printers and other devices. Bluetooth provides
reliable and secure wireless communications and makes it possible for you
to transfer files, access dial-up networks, and send and exchange business
cards from your Bluetooth enabled PDA. To get the maximum benefit
from your Bluetooth Wireless Adapter, it helps to understand commonly
used terms about Bluetooth technology:
Authentication--Security feature requiring passkey verification before data
can be exchanged.
Authorization--Security feature requiring user approval before data can be
shared with another user.
Bluetooth Neighborhood--A group of Bluetooth devices that are within
discovery range.
Device Address--Bluetooth device s unique electronic address.
Device Discovery--The location and recognition of one Bluetooth device
by another.
Friendly Name/Device Name--Name provided when discovered by
another device.
Paired Device--Recognized by your device so it does not require
Authentication or Authorization security.
Service Discovery--Determines which applications other devices have in
common with yours.
A: SENDING A FILE
Follow these steps to send a file to another device:
NOTE: Not all devices support sending a file (file push). Phones and many other devices
may not accept files.
1. Select the device that you want to connect with and tap the Send File
icon in the Connection Manager window.
2. Tap Browse... on the "Send a File" screen to select a file to transfer.
3. When you find the file you want to transfer, tap Send.
B: SENDING A BUSINESS CARD
Follow these steps to send a business card to another device:
1. Select the device that you want to connect with and tap the Connection
Manager Options icon to set up your business card information.
2. Tap the Send Business Card icon in the Connection Manager window.
