tries, stop the flow of gas by turning the
adjustment wheel in a clockwise direction
(position
●; see Fig. 2 below). Wait one
minute and repeat the steps.
7) The charcoal reddens quickly in the lighting
area, then a red glow spreads throughout
the charcoal. (7) For charcoal barbecues, it
is recommended to heat up the barbecue
and wait for the charcoal has been glowing
for 30 minutes (charcoal totally covered by a
film of ashes) before starting to cook;
8) The QST system enables 1 kg of charcoal to
be lighted in 10 minutes. If you would like to
add more charcoal (we suggest 1.5kg for the
QST L model), you can keep the burner on
for 15 minutes. Time may vary depending
on the type of charcoal. Charcoal in large
chunks (restaurant size) facilitates lighting,

9) We recommend mixing the charcoal during
the gas ignition process 1 or 2 times with a
tong or charcoal slider in order to speed-up
the process and to allow an evenly ignited
charcoal.
10)
Extinguish the gas burner by
turning the adjustment wheel
(1) in a clockwise direction
(position l) after a maximum of 15
minutes (Fig. 2)
Fig. 2
Please note: If you do not wish to use gas
to light your barbecue, pile charcoal in the
center of the cooking receptacle. Put starters or
crushed newspapers under the pile of charcoal,
then light the pile (use only starters compliant
with the EN1860-3 standard).
11) Do not start to cook until the charcoal is
covered with a film of ashes. When the
charcoal is covered with a film of light gray
ash, use tongs to distribute it evenly around
the receptacle.
– A light application of oil will enable you
to brown food evenly and prevent it from
sticking to the cooking grill. Always apply oil
directly on food (using a brush) and not on
the cooking grill.
– To obtain a stronger smoked flavor, add
wood chips or fresh herbs which have been
moistened (rosemary, thyme, laurel). Place
the wood chips or moistened herbs directly
on the charcoal before starting to cook.
– During use, you can hook the lid at the rear
of the receptacle on the hook designed for
this purpose.
F - OPERATING
1) Remove the lid and open all aeration flaps
(3) before preparing the fire. To ensure
proper air circulation, remove accumulated
ashes from the bottom of the barbecue.
Charcoal needs oxygen to burn. It is
therefore important to make sure that the
aeration flaps (3) are not blocked.
2) You can remove residual ashes from the ash
container by lifting one side of the hearth
grill (2) (Bonesco SC and Bonesco LC).
3) Replace the hearth grill (2).
4) Put charcoal meeting the EN1860-2
standard in the hearth (5) on the hearth grill
(2). Do not overfill the receptacle:
● 1 kg of charcoal is enough for the
Bonesco QST S
● 1.5 kg is enough for the Bonesco QST L
we recommend filling the firebox not more
than 50% of its capacity.
5) Open the gas by turning the adjustment
wheel all the way in a counterclockwise
direction (toward the “+” on the arrow).
Push on the red lighter button ( ) (see Fig.
1 below). The characteristic sound of the
burner will indicate that it has been lighted.
If lighting does not occur on the first try,
repeat the steps.
