NOTE:
• Starting a new recording will clear the previous one.
• The last recording is preserved also when you switch the digital
drum off.
20. MIDI
The ports for MIDI-IN and MIDI-OUT are on the back of the digital drum. Depending on the appliance with
MIDI support you possess there are various application options for the digital drum.
"MIDI” means "Musical Instrument Digital Interface”. MIDI is an international standard which enables corre-
spondingly fitted electronic music appliances to be connected to other devices (e.g. computer) for the pur-
pose of data exchange.
Example: If you connect a MIDI-supported keyboard to the digital drum, you can play the keyboard sounds
via the digital drum.
The digital drum features two different MIDI ports:
• MIDI IN
Data transmitted from another MIDI-capable appliance can enter
at this port.
• MIDI OUT
Data produced by the digital drum can be transmitted to another
appliance via this port.
What Can I Do with MIDI?
• Connect the MIDI-OUT port of the digital drum to
the MIDI-IN port of a keyboard.
The digital drum transmits data to the keyboard; wor-
king the pads/pedals will produce keyboard sounds.
• Connect the MIDI-IN port of the digital drum to the
MIDI-OUT port of a keyboard.
The keyboard transmits data to the digital drum which
acts as a kind of sound generator for the keyboard. This
enables such sounds to be played which are currently
assigned to no pad/pedal.
• Connect the MIDI-OUT port of the digital drum to
the MIDI-IN port of a sequencer.
The digital drum transmits data to the sequencer (or to
a computer) which can record these data.
• Connect the MIDI-IN port of the digital drum to the
MIDI-OUT port of a sequencer.
In this case the sequencer controls the digital drum as
sound generator.
