The MDS systems based on the type of call
MDS DIRECT
System with MDS Direct Panels: Panels with keypad and display.
Calls to the residence are made by entering a code (MDS address for the decoders to which the telephone/
monitor is connected). Done by using the numerical keypad, which also has access control functions and can
be viewed on the display. A Directory Panel installed with the MDS Panel will provide information on the MDS
address which corresponds to each residence. The size of the MDS DIRECT panel will always be the same,
independent of the number of residences.
MDS CITY.
System with MDS City Panels: Button Panels.
In the case of the City panels, each button corresponds to a particular MDS address, which means that a call
can be made to a residence by pressing the corresponding call button.
MDS DIGITAL
System with MDS Digital Panels: Panels with keypad and display with electronic directory.
The calls to the residences are made by entering a code on the numeric keypad (MDS address for the decoder
to which the telephone/monitor is connected) or by searching for the name using the electronic directory,
which has been associated to an MDS address using the programming option. The keypad also incorporates
access control function.
In the MDS Digital Panels a secondary proximity card reader modulecan be connected to the display, increasing
the MDS Digital System’s control access functions. The users and card codes are stored and managed using
the Central Unit.

In all MDS systems, each residential terminal (telephone/monitor) is connected to a DECODER output.
The telephones/monitors used in the MDS Video Door Entry System, are conventional elements which do not require
programming. The decoder is the part which establishes communication between the Panel or Guard Unit and the
residential monitor called.
Every DECODER output is programmed with an MDS address which definitively identifies it within the system, that
is, there can not be two decoder outputs with the same address in the same branch.
Once programmed, the decoder receives the call code from the decoder BUSand generates a call signal to the
corresponding telephone/monitor, (where a code exists), connecting to this telephone/monitor. Once the conversation
has concluded, the decoder detects when the phone has been hung up and communication cut off.
The call type will depend on the system chosen:
It is suitable for buildings with few residences, as since the
system requires one button per residence, the panel size
will depend on the number of buttons.
