MDS SYSTEM
MDS (MULTIPLEXED DATA SYSTEM) is the name we give to this easy to install digital door entry and video door
entry system, designed by FERMAX ELECTRONICA, which allows the user manage buildings and residential
complexes without any size limit and incorporating all communal services:
- Door Entry and Video Door Entry System: Calls and communication between the entry panel and the
residences, door opening facility at the general entrance or the entrance to the block, bidirectional
intercommunication with central guard units, etc.
- Intercommunication between access points, residences, guard units and lifts.
- Access management and control based on authorised access to restricted areas. Each user has a single
access device (proximity card, control, keypad code, etc) for all communal access points.
- Security centralised to the guard unit, to protect common areas and control residential incidents.
- Automation of communal functions and services (sprinklers, lights, swimming pool, etc).
* Privacy (total secrecy) for conversations
Under no circumstances is it possible to listen in on any outside conversation established between another
residence and the entry panel or guard unit.
Once the telephone or monitor is called it prevents the system operating for the rest of the terminals, such that
they cannot hear the conversation started by the other user.
* Central Guard Unit
In addition to the door entry/video door entry systems the user can install one or various (based on the MDS
system) guard units, which allow communication between residence-guard unit, residence-entry panel and entry
panel-guard unit.
* Conventional Terminals
The terminals installed in the residence are conventional 4+N monitors which do not require programming
(programming is done on the decoder).
* Possibility of connecting various pieces of equipment to each residence.
Various monitors and/or telephones can easily be installed in the one residence without the need to programme the
new terminals.
* Time Programming: Door Opener, Conversation and Minimum Conversation Times.
The MDS system allows the lock-release time be set at between 1 and 99 seconds.
It also allows the user to programme the minimum and maximum conversation times between the entry panel and
the residence.
General and common characteristics of MDS systems.
* Simplified BUS cabling systems.
- Door Entry System:
4 common wires + 1 shielded twisted pair
- Video Door System:
6 common wires + 1 shielded twisted pair + coaxial.
On traditional systems the MDS systems do not require the typical call wire, for every telephone or monitor. The
call from the panel is converted into a digital signal, which is sent via a common wire to the floor level decoder,
which generates and sends the call to the telephone or corresponding monitor.

* Audio and Distribution Decoders per Floor.
The decoders are the interface between the system bus and the residential terminals. It is
inserted in the system bus, connecting up to 4/8 telephones or monitors to each of them.
The telephones/monitors are connected to the outputs, which are programmed with an
address which identifies the connected telephone/monitor.
The decoder isolates the residences from the rest of the system, such that a telephone
which is off the hook, does not affect the system’s operation.
The floor based distribution facilitates cabling and the detection of system faults.
