VSE/ESA
VSE/ESA V2 is IBM’s entry S/390 operating environ-
ment for cost effective transaction and batch process-
ing. Facilities provided in recent VSE/ESA releases
provide a foundation for world-class e-business solu-
tions as well. VSE/ESA customers can protect their ex-
tensive investment in core S/390 applications and
skills, yet leverage those valuable information assets
to provide world-class e-business solutions.
VSE/ESA V2 offers enhancements in basic areas of
Turbo dispatcher, increased capacity, and hardware
support. VSE/ESA V2 also expands its already exten-
sive affinity with z/OS with common middleware such
CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA, languages, and
DB2 Server. The primary focus of VSE/ESA V2 is
interoperability. Using TCP/IP and e-business connec-
tors, VSE can participate in secure hybrid environ-
ments and integrate applications across a variety of
platforms using open standards.
