1.
Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2.
Lower mowing decks to ground.
3.
Allow the engine to cool completely.
4.
Raise the hood.
Engine Oil Cooler Removal
See Figure 3-14.
NOTES
• Label all hoses before removing to ensure correct
installation.

Disconnect hose (1) from fitting (2), and immediately
cap and plug hose and fitting to prevent
contamination of the engine oil system.
2.
Disconnect hose (8) from fitting (7), and immediately
cap and plug hose and fitting to prevent
contamination of the engine oil system.
3.
While supporting the engine oil cooler (3), remove
four spacers (4), flat washers (5), and 3-piece ties
(6).
4.
Remove the engine oil cooler.
Installation Notes
• Install the engine oil cooler by reversing the order of
removal.
• Check engine oil level and add engine oil, if
necessary.
• Start the engine following the instructions in the
“Safety & Operation Manual.”
• After engine reaches normal operating temperature,
shut off engine. Check engine oil level and add oil, if
necessary.
Radiator Removal
See Figures 3-15 through 3-16.

Remove the engine oil cooler. (See “Engine Oil
Cooler Removal” on page 3-11.)

Drain cooling system, 8 qt (7.6 L).
a.
Open access door at bottom of radiator.
b.
Open petcock, remove radiator cap, and drain
coolant into a clean container.

Drain hydraulic tank. (See “Hydraulic Oil Tank—Drain
Procedure” on page 6-64.)
NOTE
Label all hoses before removing to ensure correct
installation.

4.
Tag and disconnect hydraulic oil cooler hoses (1).
Plug and cap hoses and fittings to prevent
contamination of hydraulic system.
5.
Disconnect overflow hose (2) from radiator and
secure out of the way.
6.
Remove two screws (3), flat washers (4), and
lockwashers (5) that secure air cleaner support (6) to
radiator.
7.
Remove four screws (7), flat washers (4), and lock
washers (5) that secure the fan shroud (8) in place.

Never remove the radiator cap when the coolant
is hot. The engine must be shut down and cooled
before the radiator cap is removed. Very hot
coolant will be sprayed from the radiator if the
cap is loosened before the engine has cooled.
Serious personal injury can occur.
