Hooking Up Bucket Mount
!
WARNING!
To prevent serious injury or death:
Always set tractor transmission in park or engage park brake,Â
shut tractor off and remove switch key before allowing anyoneÂ
including the operator to hook-up and unhook implement.
Refer to Figure 1-9:
1.
Slowly approach gearbox clevis (#4) with tractor andÂ
bucket while using control lever to lower mountingÂ
bracket (#3) on end of bucket close to gearboxÂ
clevis (#4).
2.
Set tractor transmission in park or engage tractorÂ
park brake, shut tractor engine off, and removeÂ
switch key before dismounting tractor.
3.
If removed, attach mounting bracket (#3) to the endÂ
of the bucket. See step 4 underÂ
4.
Manually align holes in gearbox clevis (#4) with holesÂ
in mounting bracket (#3).
5.
Insert gearbox pin (#1) and secure in place withÂ
cotter pin (#2). Bend both legs of cotter pin aroundÂ
gearbox pin to keep cotter pin from falling out.
6.
Attach hydraulic hoses to tractor duplex outlet. ReferÂ
toÂ
âHydraulic Hook-Up to TractorâÂ
on page 16 forÂ
detailed instructions.
7.
Zip tie hydraulic hoses along loader arm as neededÂ
to keep hoses from becoming pinched, stretched, orÂ
kinked.
8.
Using tractor lift control lever, lift Post Hole Digger upÂ
until auger is off the ground 1 to 2 inches.
9.
With tractor set at an idle, engage hydraulics to viewÂ
auger rotation. The auger should rotate clockwiseÂ
when looking down from above. If auger rotatesÂ
counterclockwise, switch quick release couplers atÂ
the duplex outlet on the tractor.Â
Unhooking Bucket Mount
Refer to Figure 1-10:
1.
Lower digger until auger tip touches the ground.
2.
Make sure hydraulic motor fittings are facing up andÂ
not down against the ground when digger is laying onÂ
the ground. Lay Post Hole Digger down as follows:
â¢
If digger is mounted on right side of bucket, slowlyÂ
turn tractor to the left while lowering bucket.
â¢
If digger is mounted on left side of bucket, slowlyÂ
turn tractor to the right while lowering bucket.
IMPORTANT:Â
The hydraulic motor is factoryÂ
assembled to mount on right-hand side of bucketÂ
with fittings facing out. Rotate motor 180 degrees ifÂ
auger is mounted on left-hand side of bucket. ThisÂ
will allow the auger to lay down with fittings facing upÂ
and not down against the ground.
Refer to Figure 1-9:
3.
With Post Hole Digger laying on the ground, removeÂ
cotter pin (#2) and gearbox pin (#1).
4.
Return to the tractor and lift bucket away from digger.
5.
Replace gearbox pin (#1) and cotter pin (#2) in theÂ
gearbox clevis for safe keeping.Â

NOTE:Â Â
If preferred, mounting bracket (#1) can beÂ
removed from the bucket. See Figure 1-2 on pageÂ
10 for illustration of mounting bracket components.Â
If removed, store bracket with Post Hole Digger.
Hydraulic motor fittings shouldÂ
face up when auger is laying down.

Hydraulic fittingsÂ
should face out.
