Maintenance
Proper servicing and adjustments are key to the long life
of any implement. With careful inspection and routine
maintenance, you can avoid costly downtime and repair.
Check all hardware after several hours of operation and
regularly thereafter to ensure they are tight and secured.
Replace worn, damaged, or illegible safety labels by
obtaining new labels from your Land Pride dealer.
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Allow only persons to perform maintenance on thisÂ
implement who have been properly trained in its safeÂ
â¢
Before any adjustments or maintenance is performed, lowerÂ
implement to ground, shut engine off, and remove switchÂ
key. Do not attempt to make adjustments with implement orÂ
â¢
Do not alter implement or replace parts on the implementÂ
with other brands. Other brands may not fit properly orÂ
meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)Â
specifications. They can weaken the integrity and impair theÂ
safety, function, performance, and life of the implement.Â
Replace parts only with genuine OEM parts.

WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death: Â
Used tines can be very sharp. Always wear gloves whenÂ
handling tines to protect against cuts.

 GR5 hex head capÂ
screws (#1), hex nuts (#2), and lock washers (#3).Â
Remove tine (#4).
2.
Attach each new tine to the flange making certain it isÂ
mounted so that the cutting edge crosses over theÂ
flange and leads in rotation as shown in Figure 4-1.
3.
Replace cap screws and fasteners (#1, #2 & #3).Â
Tighten nuts to proper torque. See
Â
The Torque ValuesÂ
Chart
Â
in the
 âAppendixâÂ
section
Â
IMPORTANT:Â
When ordering tines, be sure to orderÂ
only genuine OEM tines and to order both right- andÂ

Driveline Protection
DANGER
!
To avoid serious injury or death: Â
Always shut tractor down using âTractor ShutdownÂ
Procedureâ provided in this manual before dismounting theÂ
Tiller drive components are protected from shock loadsÂ
by either a two plate friction clutch or a shear bolt. AvoidÂ
shear bolt failure by engaging the power take-off slowly atÂ
low engine rpm. See your Land Pride dealer whenÂ
replacing shear bolts. Torque shear bolt nuts to 8 ft. lbs.
Clutch Run-In
Friction clutches should be ârun-inâ prior to initialÂ
operation and after long periods of inactivity. To preventÂ
driveline and gearbox damage, repeat âRun-InâÂ
instructions at the beginning of each season and whenÂ
moisture and/or condensation seizes the inner frictionÂ
plates.
Refer to Figure 4-2 on page 20:
1.
Using a pencil or other marker scribe a line across theÂ
exposed edges of the clutch plates and friction disks.
