Routine care and maintenance
Do not use or store the ABPM-04 outside the above specifications, as it may not meet its performance
specifications if used or stored outside its environmental and intended measurement range
specifications. The device is not specially protected against spills or ingression of water or other
liquids. Do not use it in rain, in a shower or under water, and protect it from any liquids.
Clean the ABPM-04 device and/or the rubber bladder of the cuff with a dry, anti-static cloth as
necessary. Do not use detergents or cleaning fluids. Do not sterilize ABPM-04 or its bladder, do not
expose them to heat or steam, and do not immerse them in water, or any other fluid.
To clean the cuff, remove the rubber bladder from the textile sleeve. Wipe or wash sleeve with mild
detergent. Let it dry at room temperature, then re-insert bladder in sleeve.
There are no user serviceable parts inside the device.
Contact Meditech or your distributor for service information. See page 2 for contact details.
ABPM-04 contains high complexity electronic and fine mechanical components. If you have any
problems, please refer the device to qualified service personnel. The device keeps its passive accuracy
for 2 years, then re-calibration is recommended.
In addition to this regular recalibration, no other accuracy checks are necessary. You may wish to
follow some guidelines suggesting that the accuracy of ABPM devices be checked regularly. You may
do this by comparing a reading of the device with a blood pressure value obtained by a trained
observer. For such comparison, use the cuff/stethoscope auscultation method on the same arm of the
same patient within a minute after the reading taken by the device.
