K. Ignition Cycles
1. At the beginning of each ignition cycle, it is normal to see
somesmokeinthefirebox.Thesmokewillstoponcethe
firestarts.
2. The convection blower will automatically turn on after your
appliance has been burning for approximately 10 minutes.
This blower transfers heat from your appliance into the
room, and will continue to run after the thermostat has
stopped calling for heat until the appliance has cooled
down.
3. Occasionallytheappliancemayrunoutoffuelandshut
itself down. When this happens, the red call light will be
on.
See Figure 10.2, page 10.Torestartit,fillthehopper
and press the reset button.

When you press the reset button the red call light will go
out. Release the button and the light will come back on.
Youshouldseeafireshortly.Ifnot,followtheinstructions
on
page 8,of“StartingYourFirstFire”.
I. Fire Characteristics
Aproperlyadjustedfirewiththeheatoutputcontrolswitchset
on“high”hasashortactiveflamepatternthatextendsoutof
thefirepotapproximately4to6inches(102to152mm).If
thefirehastallflameswithblacktailsandseemssomewhat
lazy, the feed rate will need to be reduced. This is done by
slidingthefueladjustmentcontrolroddown,whichwillreduce
thefeed.Ifthefireisnot4to6inches(102to152mm)tall,
slidethefueladjustmentcontrolroduptoincreasethefeed.
Amediumandlowsettingwillgiveashorterflame.Theflame
will rise and fall somewhat. This is normal.
J. Feed Rate Adjustment Instructions
Thefeedadjustment control rodisfactoryset,and should
be adequate for most fuels. The set screw is located at the
bottom of the hopper and set loose at the factory so the fuel
adjustmentcontrolrodwillslideupanddownbyonlyloosening
the thumb screw at the top.
See Figure 9.1. Do not re-tighten
bottom set screw.
However,iftheflameheightistoohighortoolow,youwill
needtoadjustthefeedrate.Waituntiltheappliancehasbeen
burningfor15minutesbeforemakingyouradjustments and
allow15minutesforfeedadjustmenttotakeeffect.
1. Loosenthethumbscrew.

3. Re-tighten the thumb screw.
