SSID
SSID (Service Set Identifier) is the unique identifier that client devices use to associate with the DSL-604+. The
default SSID is “default". The SSID can be easily changed to create a new wireless network. All wireless client
communicating with the DSL-605+ need to use the same SSID.
Channel
The default channel for DSL-604+ is set as 6. This option can be changed to fit the proper channel setting for an
existing wireless network or to customize the wireless network. Remember that all client communicating with
DSL-604+ need to select the same channel (and use the same SSID).
SSID Broadcast
This setting is used to choose whether the clients that do not specify a SSID are allowed to associate to the
access point. Enable to allow the client devices using the primary SSID to communicate to the access point. Or
you may disable SSID Broadcast to deny the clients using primary SSID to associate with AP.
WEP
Wired Encryption Protocol (WEP) is a wireless security protocol for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN).
WEP provides security by encrypting the data that is sent over the WLAN. The DSL-604+ supports 2 levels of
WEP Encryption: 64-bit encryption, and 128-bit encryption. The higher the encryption, the more secure you
network will be. If WEP not enabled, your network would not be protected from unauthorized access. Although
there will be a slight performance hit, it is recommended to enable WEP for your network security.
Keys:
You may enter up to 4 sets of keys, which allow you to easily change wireless encryption settings for a secure
network. But only one of them can be active. A key becomes the active one by selecting it.
If you choose 64-bit format, you need to define exactly 10 hexadecimal digits (Hexadecimal digits are defined as
the numerical digits 0-9 and the letters A -F; Upper and lower case are recognized as the same digit). You need to
type exactly 26 hexadecimal digits for 128-bit key.
