You will use the various "soft buttons" under the screen to control the update process. To start, press the
second soft button from the left, labeled UPDATE IMAGE.
3. Copy the O/S and Objects
(please read carefully as the installation instructions have changed)
The software files need to be either (a) copied to an xD card and then physically transfered to the PC3 -or- (b)
sent to the PC3 via direct USB cable connection. O/S files will have the extension “.BIN”. Soundware object files
have the extension “.PC3". One of each are included in this download.
(a) To copy using an xD card, you must have an appropriate card writer unit on your computer. You must also
have a formatted xD card (up to 512 Mb in size). The card may be formatted on either a Windows or MacOS
system, or it may come pre-formatted. If you format it yourself, be sure to use DOS format (FAT 16). Cards of up
to 128 Mb may also be formatted on the PC3 itself using the FILE UTILITIES menu.
Copy the PC3 OS (.BIN) and Object (.PC3) files to the card using the method specific to your computer system.
Remove the card from your computer and place it in the PC3 card slot on the back right corner of the keyboard.
The card goes into the PC3 with the contacts facing upward.
(b) To copy via USB, plug the USB cable into the PC3 and into a computer running Windows or
MacOS. A PC3 device image should appear on the desktop as an icon or a window depending on the operating
system. ** Drag and drop the PC3 OS (.BIN) first and proceed with installation steps 4-6 below. Once complete,
clear the USB removable device/window and then copy the Object file (.PC3) onto the USB removable device/
window. Continue with installation step 7.
** NOTE: beginning with version v1.01 the OS and Object files are collectively too large to fit in the USB desktop
mounted volume at the same time and necessitate being copied and installed one file at a time, clearing the
volumes' contents after the first file is installed.
4. Install the O/S (.BIN file)
Press the soft button under the screen labeled UPDATE IMAGE then MAIN IMAGE when asked to choose a
module to update.
