•
Disconnect the power cord from the electrical
supply, and shut of the gas supply at the
manual shutoff valve(C, Photo 2a).
•
Disconnect outlet(A) gas connection(s) and the
pilot gas outlet(B), See photo 42.
•
Disconnect wiring(C) from each solenoid coil.
Label each wire terminal to avoid miswiring the
appliance. Note: Some coil assemblies only
have one(1) main gas coil in service.
•
Disconnect the supply gas inlet(A)
connection(s) that may be holding the solenoid
assembly in place, See Photo 43.
•
All gas connections are accessible from the
front of the appliance. Some connections are
accessible from the rear if circumstances
dictate.
•
To remove the solenoid assembly from the
appliance, remove the mounting screw(s) that
secure the assembly to the framework of the
cabinet. There is one screw above and below
the solenoids, See Photo 44.
•
Disconnect all piping and fittings from the
inlet(A), and outlet(B) of the assembly, this will
allow the solenoid valves to be removed from
the mounting bracket(C), See Photo 45.
•
The pilot solenoid(D), and the main burner
solenoid(E) are connected by a single pipe
nipple. Twist the two(2) solenoids apart and
replace the bad component.
•
Re-install the replacement part in reverse
order. Use thread sealant compound on all
male threads.
•
When installing the replacement solenoid
valve, note the direction of gas flow on the
valve. Installing the valve incorrectly could
cause the appliance to malfunction.
•
Take care to not damage or cut any of the
electrical wiring during the replacement.
•
After all parts have been installed, test the
appliance for proper operation. If the gas
tubing has been reconnected incorrectly, the
thermostat could operate the wrong solenoid
valve.
