Targus Mobile Port Station
Parallel Port
If you connect the Mobile Port Station to a USB 1.1 port on
your computer, the parallel port is only compatible with
printers and only supports enhanced bi-directional printer
features, such as returning printer status. For best results,
you should connect high bandwidth external devices, which
have a parallel connection, such as a Zip
®
drive, directly to
your computer.
If you connect the Mobile Port Station to a USB 2.0 port on
your computer, the parallel port supports all parallel
devices. No degradation should occur.
Troubleshooting
Device Not Working
• Make sure that the device is fully inserted into the correct
port on the Mobile Port Station.
• Plug the device into a different port on the Mobile Port
Station. If it still doesn’t work, test the device by
connecting it directly to your computer.
• Verify that you ran the Setup or Install program for the
device.
• Make sure that the device appears in Device Manager.

• Disconnect all devices from the Mobile Port Station and
reconnect them, one at a time. Check that each device
works before plugging in the next one.
Printer Not Found
If your parallel printer is not working, refer to “Checking and
Redirecting the Printer Port Settings” on page 9 for
instructions on how to verify and change the port settings.
