Note: The carburetor can only function optimally if the running-in process of the engine is completed
according to the instructions. Use the same fuel that you also use for normal operation.
Starting the engine and run-in
Open the nozzle needle 3 turns from the fully closed position. The throttle is opened slightly above the idle
position, ie. 0.3 to 0.5 mm from the completely closed position.

Start the engine and let it warm up. The mixture control screw has to be set something
“bold”. This is checked by allowing the engine running idle for about 5 seconds. Now open
the throttle, the engine speed should increase only slowly. If the motor stops, because it
is too rich, the idle is increased slightly by the throttle stop screw. At this stage, drive the
car slowly, without any abrupt change in throttle position. If the engine stalls, because the
mixture is too rich, the needle is turned in about 30 °.
During the first four or five fuel-tank fillings the high-speed (nozzle needle) and the idle adjustment throttle
stop screw should be clearly on the „rich“ side. When accelerating there should be slight delays and thick
smoke, and the smoke must cease if the model is gaining speed. But also at full speed should be a clear
smoke from the exhaust plume.
Run the car with this needle settings and fully open throttle over a long, straight and leveled track
and watch the speed. Return to the starting point and close the nozzle needle 30 °and repeat the
run. Pay attention to the change in driving performance. Make additional tests of this kind, while
the needle is closed in every run until the highest performance has been achieved in a straight line.
WARNING: Note that when the needle is turned down too far, the engine overheats, the exhaust smoke
almost completely disappears and the car will slow down.
In this case, stop immediately and open the
needle again 30 ° to 45 °.
Finally, make only small changes to the needle setting until the position is found at which the highest speed
has been reached on a straight without overheating. For security reasons, close the needle again 20 ° to
30 °. This is the optimal needle settings that must be changed only at when using a different fuel and / or
severe weather changes. If you have found the optimum needle adjustment is set next the mixture control
valve (screw). With the engine running, close the throttle to idle and let the engine run just about 5 seconds.
Then open the throttle quickly and completely. If a lot of smoke comes from the exhaust and the car does
not accelerate quickly, this is a sign of too rich mixture at idle. The mixture control valve (screw) is rotated
30 ° clockwise. In contrast, when the idle mixture too lean, so this is expressed by the engine will rev up
shortly after opening the throttle, but then stops suddenly. Then turn the mixture control screw is 30 ° - 45
° counterclockwise.
Note: The setting of the mixture control screw should be made in small steps of 30 °. Watch the throttle
response. Make this setting with patience and under actual driving conditions, readjust until the engine re-
sponds spontaneously and clean to changes in throttle position. The ideal setting is a light smoke from the
exhaust at full throttle and the engine accelerates without delay and soft on throttle. But remember, when the
engine gets even slightly into lean condition, it will overheat and run not smooth. As previously mentioned,
it is advisable for safety reasons to adjust both the needle, and the mixture control screw slightly “fatter” as
necessary for maximum speed. Is the idle too high, turn the throttle stop screw out slightly counterclockwise.
